An onslaught of Bieber fans?

Voyager Permalink
Voyager I was just sitting here this morning at home from work with a bad cold and I was contemplating what might happen to the Phish scene if Bieber fans start showing up? Bieber's recent interest in the band may bring out young teenies and pre-teens who want to see the band he likes. This could be a bad thing.

Would love to hear peoples thoughts on this since I have nothing better to do today.

walstib 1. Parent drives up to venue to drop off unsuspecting minor at Phish show.
2. Parent looks around.
3. Parent locks car doors.
4. Parent returns home with child still in tow.

The way I see it, empty seats and extra dancing room is the end result.
Score: 20

I wouldn't be afraid. I seriously doubt the number of Bieber fans who would check out Phish is all that high, if any. You'll see the same old Phish heads at MSG just like you would anywhere else. Don't fret, this is not an issue to be concerned about.

chalk2001 What is Bieber's interest anyways? I know he went to a show this summer, but...what else...?

Serious question, not trying to mock the OP. I guess I should keep my thumb on the Bieber pulse more.

icculus71 i doubt my 8 yr old daughter (who just saw the Bieb's last week) will be wanting a Trey poster for her room anytime soon.

Seriously, though...any new fan, whatever the age, i hope are met with open arm and minds...show them the light.

Bieber's guitarist/musical director (DK) is a huge fan.
Dragged Biebs to a show. Good times were had.
CK5 doing the lights for current tour; tweeting at the Beliebers.
DK teasing phish songs nightly during an instrumental part of the show where the Biebs changes outfits or something. (youtube clips available.)
Much melting on the internet.

I think that brings us current.
There are several excellent interviews with DK, and a bunch of threads easily searchable here if you want more details.

it will be the beginning of a new musical genre known as Pop Jamming beibstyle

Sounds like 1994 to me.....except for the part where the parent returns home with the child.

^^ this. Most people just don't get Phish and Biebs being (maybe) into 'em won't take kids past the first 20 minutes.
