nah, you've got to have it there so you can call him spun-cookies in the middle of night from random locations.

fanman900 I LOVE THE HOTLINE! I've only ever got one message through (his machine is full all the time), I dropped my phone I was so surprised when it actually beeped through and I was too baked to say anything. It makes me laugh so hard every time, he's the greatest person in the world and the greatest member of the band no doubt.

paulj Permalink
paulj The Timber Ho has the Hotline on speed dial and has left a number of questions, none of which he has ever answered. About a month ago she hands the phone to me and says, "Here, ask Mike a question." I asked if he ever goes back and listens to himself from years ago, say, from when he was 22 years old. Is he impressed with what that 22 year old kid could do, or does he find it a little "immature" relative to his playing today?

A couple of days later the Timber Ho hands me the phone and says, "He answered your question!"

Mike said, "No."

No...never had it anything but full.

BUT, Phish once had their own "hotline" 802-860-1111. It just had upcoming dates, announcements and stuff like that.

Once I called looking for upcoming dates and was greeted with, "Um, hello?" Apparently Fish was trying to make a call and picked up without it having rung on his end, and was curious was their was no dial-tone. We had a great 15 minute conversation, just shooting the shit on cool venues they would be playing in the coming months and what-not from the past several shows. This was Fall '91.

Funny.

missblue75 The first time I called the box was full. I called back the next day and it was a new message and I got a msg thru...probably gibberish as I suck on the spot... and I believed that he changed it everyday...then I realized it was just me...i'm retarded and had good timing for once.
Managed to get through 2 other times, but feel like an asshole when i do as I have nothing good to say. I always call just to see... or hear rather...
Love the hotline...there's a real person over there. <3
...and he thinks we're a buncha bird dogs!
I'll take that as a term of endearment. Dogs are great.

Actually I've gotten through a number of times, just lucky timing. Honestly, the first time I got through I didn't expect it at all and blanking on what to say hung up. I then, realizing that might be my only chance, called right back and said something. I was really calling to hear the message, but it took a summer of calling to finally get through.

buffalo_voice Left a message this summer that went a little like this..

Hi Mike, how's it going? Hey I had an idea, if your band, or Phish ever do a cover of "Psycho Killer" again...during the part of the song that is in French, that goes:

Ce qu'elle a dit, ce soir la
Realisant mon espoir
Je me lance, vers la gloire ...

Well, that line "Realisant mon espoir", the word Realisant sounds like the name Liam Neeson.

So, when you sing that part, have Liam Neeson step out on stage and wave or sing with you! And, of course, it could be an imperonator like the Tom Hanks thing.

Thanks and have a great night!"

I still haven't heard back from him about this.
