Rank Phish DVDs

ypehmish Permalink
ypehmish I was never one to buy the DVDs, and I've owned IT since it came out, but now I feel like just collecting them all. I snatched up Clifford Ball online today to start. Was curious on the .net community's preferences on the whole lot, ranking them. Scales & comments welcome. Go!
Thanks!!

harroldHOOD I have them all and it IT and Clifford Ball are probably the best content wise but I find myself rewatching Bittersweet Motel over and over again. Just love every single bit about that movie. But if you're going for a concert DVD you don't currently have I'd say try the Vegas show. Great setlist

I really love the Walnut Creek from 1998, a lot of energy from the band feeding off the crowd and the storm.

Live in Utica and Alpine 2010 were letdowns for me.

Capricornio of the ones I have:

Bittersweet Motel (pretty decent documentary whether you like Phish or not)
Vegas 2000 (tragically underrated. yes, the video quality isn't great, but what a show/setlist)
Walnut Creek
IT
Coral Sky
Alpine
Utica (I don't care how many times they tease Guyute, I'm not a fan of this show. I find it sloppy.)

Potato_Sacks I went from having a bunch to only one somehow which I'm kinda bummed about, I use to have Brooklyn Coral Sky, Walnut Creek, Alpine, and Utica. Down to only Utica. I think I'm gonna repurchase a bunch of them though. I LOVE Utica though, so freakin sick. That Melt Sandwich is top notch 3.0 stuff.

Dude, get at amazon, dirt cheap. I only settled for one used, and I think it was vegas for like $4. Utica was the most at like $17.

Haha yeah, in terms of the quality of the footage, Brooklyn is definitely tops. That is my go-to DVD when trying to show Phish to a newbie. I also think the audio mix is the best out of all the releases.

Just waiting on Star Lake. Should I bother with Alpine?
Score: 0

harroldHOOD Permalink
harroldHOOD Alpine is one of the weakest IMO. Not sure why out of all the summer '10 shows that was the one that got chosen. Video quality I think its one of the best but as for the show its kinda meh for me. Just watched the Star Lake DVD last night and while it was kinda lame that the quality wasn't high-def, its probably one of the best shows currently available on DVD.
Score: 0

pflaumja Watching Star Lake right now. Video quality sucks! Kind of disappointed. However, the bonus disc totally makes up for the poor quality of the video!

ckess22 Permalink
ckess22 Live in Vegas 2000 is by far the one I've watched the most. I hv all of them....really enjoy walnut creek. The mike's grooves from both shows are just over the top good. Mikes song from Vegas is some of fishmans best work...and Trey is right in it too. That show is Otto Von Bismarck underrated.
As far as video quality, if its not blu ray, all I'm looking for is multiple cameras and a director that doesn't forget the crowd.

elton_john I think the video quality of the Starlake 98 DVD is pretty darn good, considering the source (VHS).

Anyone in Canada (more specifically Toronto) know where I can buy the Clifford Ball DVD in stores other than HMV? I've looked everywhere, and $140 with tax, which is how much HMV is selling it for, seems waaay overpriced compared to prices i've seen online. Worst case i'll just order it online, but i'd much rather just pick it up from a store.
