Met and spoke with every member in October of 91' at the Santa Cruz show. When the band finished the show they just put their instruments down and walked off the stage into the small crowd and just hung out with everyone. I remember Mike was drinking apple juice from a bottle and offered me some. Fish climbed a tree out front and was talking to a group of people. I also spoke with page A few days prior at the great American in SF. They were all very nice and seemed really happy to be talking to new west coast fans! Holly Crap that was 21 years ago I must be an old bastard! This is awesome. I love that it happened, and I can totally picture it.
I love even more the way you wrote it as though it makes the most sense in the world.
I met Gordo in April 2012 at the Cowbell event on Church st in Burlington. He was signing things, and when I came up with the flood shirt for him to sign his handler asked if I wanted a picture taken which of course I did and we had a two minute face to face.
1) talking with Mike after the show at Drum Logos in Fukuoka. He was hanging out in front of the club and talking with anyone who stopped to say hi. Was fun to chat with him.
2) The summer after Japan Tour I was in NYC for a trade show at the Javitts Center. Two friends/co-workers and I had finished what we needed to accomplish early and had headed down to McSorley's for a couple beers. Thirst quenched we decided to walk down to Washington Square and toke in the park. Halfway there we realized that we didn't have a lighter so my friends headed to a bodega to get one while I continued on to Wash. Square to scope out the scene. I was on the sidewalk across the street from the park and I saw this guy with crazy hair way down the block walking towards me and thought "That dude kinda looks like Mike". As he got closer I thought to myself "Man, that guy really looks like Mike." And then I realized "Holy crap, that is Mike!". I waved and said hello, we chatted for a quick minute about Japan tour and I let him go on his way, since I didn't want to impose. When my friends, who are also big phish fans, showed up they were bummed. And then we smoked and made it all better.
Trey likes NASCAR ?OH NO! First Bieber now this! Will there be a bunch of rednecks with confederate falg t shirts and camo hats trying to get tix for NYE???? What are we going to do.....
EDIT: I did meet Fish. He played a really small show in Hartford with Marco benevento and one of the guys from Tea Leaf Green. It was at a art gallery slash movie theatre. only shook his hand and said great show.
A friend of mine had dinner in san francisco with mike and trey this past summer before the bill graham shows. I was sitting at the bar having a drink(obviously my friend told me they would be there) and while im sitting there mike walks over to use an outlet which was next to me. He asked if we could share power and I said of course. I told him how much of an honor it was to meet him and thanked him for everything. He came over a few more times to check his phone that was charging and we spoke about a few brief things. It was awesome.
I've met them all. weird dudes. Raged with Gordo after hampton 03 at a col bruce show and a weird room with a tank. He wouldn't talk to anyone and would just sqawk a rubber chicken.
Met fish back in 2000 after the tour closer at shoreline. We got wasted and he was telling some awesome stories. One in particular about how he got the nickname bob weaver. he then starting hitting on my friend Nelle saying "i loved your smile during loving cup". I leaned over and whispered "jon, she is only 17" and he left. She is still pissed.

The closest I have come to meating any of them would be in my dreams... One day ill bump into one of them and be at a loss for words

saw him again walking down the steps behind the grandstand section of fenway after the '09 summer opener. he was right next to me on the stairs, i said 'great show mike' and he didnt acknowledge me.
weird dude...

Mike and Fish walked by at one point, but they didn't stop and we just kind of duh'd it up.
Edit: My dad met Trey at a Neil Young concert at SPAC. My dad talked about my playing the guitar. Trey's autograph says 'take it slow'.
Fish was a last-minute special guest for the DJ Logic set. Billy Martin was scheduled to play, and my friend was tasked with picking him and John up from a gig on the Riverboat Cajun Queen. When she got there illy B had a "family event" at the last minute and had to cancel. Fish was on the boat, hanging out for the set. My friend and him go way back and she asked him if he'd like to sit in on the Project Logic set. He said yes, and I got to actually hang out with him backstage, talking about the brilliance of Ren and Stimpy at five in the morning.
Ran into Mike in the parking garage in downtown Burlington. It was priceless. He was skipping/jumping down the stairs to the bottom floor and i was near the entry...we were both startled when he came to the bottom. We exchanged looks, I said "oh, hi Mike". he just nodded.
Used to see Page on saturdays grocery shopping in South Burlington. Said hello a few times.

Interviewed Mike prior to a RAQ show at Higher Ground in 2008, and again in Northampton, MA, in 2010 during his solo tour. Great, great guy to talk to. Hard to understand if he's being goofy, or he's being serious. LOVED IT.
Trey was Albany TAB 2011. Did a story for Relix that had to do with Hands on a Hardbody and he and I sat down upstairs at the Palace for about 40 minutes. I also spoke with him backstage at Bonnaroo 2009 for a few. Believe it or not, he remembered me in 2011 from Roo 2009.
Page, I spoke with him at a bar in Troy, NY, prior to a Porter, Batiste and Stoltz show when he was on tour with them in 2008 or 2009, I can't remember. Dude was insanely chill, but reserved. He wasn't like the other guys. No jokes, just straight-forward interview.
Fishman was so f'in funny on the phone. He answered my questions with questions and confused the hell out of me. At the end he told me that I made it through his challenge of not losing my mind while talking to him. I shook his hand at the show and introduced myself, but didn't get more than that as he was on his way out.
Nowadays, it's impossible to get an interview with anyone other than Mike, especially if you want to interview about Phish. They have become quite seculded, which is a good thing. Too much media means too much pressure which means less Phish.
That's my story.
Other than that, we went our separate ways.
My mom works w/ Trey's cousin and I have a Trey's Guitar magnet that anyone can buy via DryGoods...but mine was handled by Trey and given to his cuz who then gave it to me mum to give to me! BOOM! haha #ThatWasntOffTopicAtAllTrey fondled your magnet. Coolio
met fish after jazz mandolin show in NOlA, circa '96. Had a brief conversation with him.
met mike at a bar i used to manage. hung out with him and shared a oney. .
also met mike after his solo show in Boulder circa '03. picked his brain about trey's setup for a bit.
got page's autograph backstage great woods summer '95.
never spoke to trey, but sat at a table next to where he was sitting backstage at the great woods show. he was shoting the breeze with some people he obviously knew. this was my second show, so at that time i didnt' know what was going on really.

I wouldnt want to do it either if i were them.
Most of the people who have met them have met them in common places (ie.: mcdonalds, hitchhiking, on the subway.)
They are normal dudes!
I saw Trey at KFC. I was pissed one of my guitar heroes would put that garbage in his body. He was eating one of those double chicken breast sandwiches with no bun and a shitload of bacon.I just spit triscuits and cottage cheese all over my living room
I heard tehy dont like to do meet and greets like a lot of bands do. It makes them seem like rockstars (or sellouts).meet and greets seem fake. Its better to see them spontaneously

@Sprachtor said:People have always talked about Trey's hand speed on the guitar. He moves across the fretboard like lightning. Well, there is a reason for that. A good source very close to the band told me before big shows Trey always goes to KFC and gets the greasiest meal he can. The key...he refuses to wash his hands after eating. The benefits are tremendous, he is literally ice skating the fretboard.I saw Trey at KFC. I was pissed one of my guitar heroes would put that garbage in his body. Met mike in atl 3-19-2011 after his show and met him and his whole band the next night in asheville nc, after there amazing show
I didn't technically meet Mike but when I was in NYC for the '10 NYE run I stayed at the YMCA on 63rd for the night of the 30th. When I checked out the next morning and I'm headed to the subway to get to my next hotel room and I see Mike jogging towards me. I didn't have time to think so I just gave him a giant smile and he grinned back at me and nodded. After he passed I turned around and almost shouted "Thanks for last night Mike" but I thought it might sound weird to passers by so I didn't but I wish I had. But I could tell he knew I recognized and appreciated him so I was satisfied.

Shared a knowing nod with Mike in Hartford in '99. He was headed into Radio Shack early in the day before the show. He had a pretty awesome jogging suit on.Did you happen to notice what he was driving?

@Jimmymac03 said:Yup, and it made me love him more. It was obviously a rental, and you know Trey could have whatever car he wanted, but he was driving the smallest cheapest looking sedan Ford makes.
