I dont think I could man. But I am one of those guys who doesnt listen to any phish the day of or any days during the NYE run listening stops 12/27 and begins 1/1. only live in between.....its good luck !
Been toying with the idea, trying to figure it out if its worth it. Any one with experience have any thoughts? it will suck for sure until then. Is it worth it?
It's definitely worth it i took a break for about 3 weeks in November and when I went back I realize why I listen to Phish so much because its so damn good... It's hard to go cold turkey for a whole month I'm going to cut back for December and try to stop the week before. But it will definitely be worth it gets just my personal experience with it
I did that last year, and went to Tracks on the 28th right before the show, and dang it, they were playing the studio version of Golgi....
I said to myself "I listened to Phil facking Collins for two weeks, and I get this shit".
then you will realy ENJOY the 28th

I've already been abstaining from listening to them heavily for the past few weeks.... but I might listen to 1 song every few days.
I've been doing that 30 days of dead thing on dead.net this month, getting downloads, guessing song dates, and discovering a lot more about another band I already know way to much about. It's been kind of a nice break, and I realize more and more how utterly different the two bands are.
When I'm listening primarily to Phish--which is most of the time--I get to a point where I start skipping to jams in certain songs, skipping some songs altogether, basing my listening on what setlist looks most appealing from whatever show I've heard too many times already.
After I've taken a break, I tend to grab up shows from the aud collection that I've never heard, and do my best to avoid even seeing the setlist, so I get that "I didn't see that one coming" experience that they provide so often live, but so rarely when I look at setlists or re-listen.
But, whether I'm listening to them 24/7, or haven't for a month, it bears no effect on the satisfaction I get from seeing them perform.

I'm a Phish addict, I think I'd be grumpy and show withdrawal symptoms. Idk, definately an interesting idea
I don't see taking a month off making me appreciate each unique note played at the shows I'm attending any more than I already do. I'm pretty much loving it all I can already.
edit - the whole idea sounds very Catholic to me. Intentionally depriving ones self of something you want in hopes the sacrifice brings about rewards.
I always listen to something other than Phish for the drive to the show.signed.

Listened to the whole dicks run pretty recently, i think I'll jump on board. Maybe we could start a thread suggesting music via YouTube and stuff to keep us occupied and off the hard stuff?I like the idea.

Going Phish-free all of December. Anyone else? This a great idea. I think it's gonna be hard to get that inspiration in the morning for the coming work day without it but that first note on the 28th with be an orgasm. I'm on the wagon with you starting now.
