My ticket says I have barstool seats (sec 223). Anyone have experience with these / know what they are, or is this a new thing?

I don't know exactly what that is, but here's something... Last year, at the top of 310 (which isn't there anymore) there was a press box/counter area type space. That's where we ended up. It was awesome. We had tall, stool, swivel, comfy seats with a counter in front of us.

new since 2011....just read up on it....you don't have a legit seat...u have a bar stool on a railing in 223.....not bad at all...just makes sure no one takes your seat if you plan on staying there and not bounce around the room!

A lot of arena's have those bar type seating arrangements around the top of any section. Sometimes all three (or four assuming it's a big arena) or sometimes just around the 200 or 100 levels.

@boogieman - I'm curious, did you pay the same as for regular seats? Or did you pay less, like for the seats with obstructed views?

Yeah that's how I got it at the ticketmaster outlet, same price as normal seats...sounds pretty cool though! I guess the bar stool is so that the railing doesn't obstruct your view.

I had one last year for NYE. It was a shitty seat cause it was in the light of the corridor but I went down to the rail and have now found the greatest place ever when stuck with shit seats. It was the 1st time at MSG where I felt like a powerful king looking over my kingdom of wooks. I have shit seers for the 30th...so that's where I am going.

It is not really a well-defined "section," since it was only enclosed by black curtains. Lots of people (myself included, unintentionally) were opening the curtains to see what was in there. It could get annoying if the security person does not check the stubs OUTSIDE the enclosure. Kind of like a movie theatre, where somebody keeps opening the door and the light is pouring in.
But you do have a cool place to rest your elbows, drinks, etc.

i had bar stool seats in 2011 in the upper highest level for 12-29 and they were cloud high and behind the stage....me and my brother scoped out below us and found a completely empty section below and high tailed it down and it was great...I know there was a bar right behind us up in the Heaven section, but i was there to see phish, so it was a blessing we moved on down....plenty of dancing room anywhere behind the stage though, so check em out and then scope out whats below...just dont jump in someones seat below if they have tickets and yours are for higher up..
