Anybody seen The Who lately?

bobbob Permalink
They're playing here tomorrow night, and I'm kind of on the fence whether to go or not. I mean, I enjoy them, but I'm not a huge fan. I saw Roger a couple years ago and it was fun, but I'm still unsure. Thoughts?

Jimmymac03 I saw them about 10 years ago and it was awesome. Obviously that is a lot of time, however, they are living legends. Go see them while you can.

I saw a few videos that didn't quite live up to what they were. It's really just Townshend and Daltrey anyway.

Honestly, if you are short on dough your money might be better spent elsewhere. But if you are a a Who fan then do it while you can.

saw them the other nite in chicago, not really a huge who fan, but quadrophenia is hands down one of my all time favorite albums and i figured it would probably be my last chance to catch it live, even if half the members are dead. i walked in just as the album was about to start and when i opened the curtain to go to my seat in the 200 section, everyone was sitting down, i figured it was cause the show was just starting so i waited a few minutes to go to my seat and everyone remained seated...the whole time! i just ended up standing at the back wall because i really didn't feel like sitting for a rock show! i enjoyed the album part a great deal, but the crowd really pissed me off up top! i bailed 2 or 3 songs into the encore because everyone started singing along, but all i wanted to see was quadrophenia and i'm glad i did, just my 2 cents

walstib You mean 1/2 The Who. Without Entwistle it's over.

Did we not all see the Super Bowl a couple years back?

Saw them a few weeks ago. Wouldn't worry that it's just the two of them. The best musician in the group is Zach Starkey. He's been playing with them for years. No Keith moon but brings a ton of energy. He's honestly enough reason to go. As for roger, he has lost a bit the last few years. Townsend still brings it for the most part. Worth seeing but won't blow you away.

If you want to see what the who really were as a live band, pick up Isle of Wight or Live at Leeds.

They were one of the greatest live bands ever. It's no wonder Phish loves them so much.

walstib On 10/30/10 at the Fox theater Gov't Mule covered the entire Who's Next album. I strongly recommend finding it and downloading. Warren does a fantastic job.

dedph1sh Big WHO fan- Will be going to Boardwaalk Hall in AC in Feb. to see this recreation of one of the Greatest Rock albums of ALL time. Sure it's only Pete & Roger left but the band they've been touring with does a great job. They've actually said that Pino Pallendino's bass has a stronger mix this time around since this album has a ton of bombastic Entwistle moments. I can't make the Philly show this week but to celebrate, I'm playing my ALBUM version right now on this nice Sunday morn. AWESOME!!!

ddderek They were just at Joe Louis in Detroit... Pete doesn't even play the lead licks anymore... his kid brother Simon Townsend plays them... Pete just does a bunch of windmills!

Daltreys voice is waning as you can expect at 70.

Simon Townsend is also doing his own gig... There's some video uo at Bob's TRI studio... speaking of, what a fantastic site that is and the stream that come from there are remarkable. Bob does a chat and play session on Wednesday nights... It isn't Move Me Brightly good, but it's fun to watch and them stream quality is top notch!
