Underrated 3.0 shows you did not attend

I'll start.

6/8/11 Darien (current .net rating 3.7) -
For 3.0) Top 5-ish versions of 2001, Weekapaug, perhaps Zero. Unique opening. Show that launched Golden Age.

DanceTheJig728 I can second the OP's selection, was at Darien and the 2001 and Paug are without a doubt top notch for 3.0 People seem to forget about the awesome WTU?> Theme as well. Great, great show with a very nice laid back first set.

jonstolethings Don't hear much talk about 7/2/10 so I'll throw that one in here. Yes there's the FYF bustout but also a great jam in Drowned (underrated jam vehicle of 3.0 IMO) and the type-1 yet very good run of Carini FYF 2001. The ensuing YEM is very nice with a great vocal jam

Charlotte 2010 actually gets a good bit of love on here. It definitely got A LOT of love after it was played. It was probably the best show of Summer 2010 up until that point.

Now 07/01/10, the night before, that's a show that gets shafted. Awesome, way out there Light, and the only boogie on that rivals 06/07/12 from this era (but no, it is not better than Worcester, but what is?)

yeah, it was the 2nd night w/ the golden-> piper-> camel walk stretch. that opening sequence is hot, but that set does peter out a bit. i also like the halley's-> tweezer, what things seem stretch in the first set.

the first night has a nice ghost-> weekapaugh. i didnt see it listed on the set list, but i remember there being some mlb teases out of ghost before weekapaugh.

i don't like the 3rd night all that much, but the carini-> bowie and the melt are both fun.

Really, MLB teases? Gonna have to check that one out... but what are your thoughts on the 7/4/12 show from this year??

edit: obviously the 7/4/12 show was from this year. haha time to put down the green crack I got. Jokes aside though, out of the 23 I caught 5
this summer, I never understood the hate for that show. Sure, 2nd set kind of peters out but the Hood and Slave, with the MONSTER forst set, fully redeem the petering out imho.

Set 3: Down with Disease[8] > Back on the Train > Gotta Jibboo > Camel Walk, Suzy Greenberg > Wilson > Harry Hood > The Horse > Silent in the Morning > You Enjoy Myself

Encore: Julius[4]

[1] Page on keytar.
[2] Phish debut; Giovanni Hidalgo on percussion.
[3] Phish debut; Giovanni Hidalgo on percussion and Aaron Johnson, Stuart Bogie, Ian Hendrickson, Michael Leonhart and Eric Biondo on horns.
[4] Giovanni Hidalgo on percussion and Aaron Johnson, Stuart Bogie, Ian Hendrickson, Michael Leonhart and Eric Biondo on horns.
[5] Phish debut; Page on bass, Mike on piano, Trey on drums and Fish on vocals.
[6] Phish debut; A cappella.
[7] Phish debut; Page teased "Charge!" during introductions. Giovanni Hidalgo on percussion and Aaron Johnson, Stuart Bogie, Ian Hendrickson, Michael Leonhart and Eric Biondo on horns.
[8] Unfinished.

Notes: Page performed Frankenstein on keytar. Spooky was performed for the first time since April 14, 1993 (751 shows). The second set "musical costume" was Little Feat's Waiting for Columbus. Join the Band (the first track of Waiting for Columbus) was played over the P.A. before the start of the second set.  Subsequently, Phish was introduced as "Little Feat" before Fat Man in the Bathtub. In the tradition of some of Phish's previous crowd experiments in the early '90s, flyers explaining a new Secret Language prank were included in the Phishbills that were passed out to fans as they walked into the show. The prank, designed to confuse those who would later listen to the recording, consisted of an announcer introducing Phish (as Little Feat). When the announcer would say a letter of the band FEAT ("Give me an F!"), the crowd would respond with letters corresponding to PHISH ("P-H!"). All of the songs in the second set other than Time Loves a Hero were Phish debuts. All of the songs in the second set, other than Don't Bogart That Joint and Willin', featured Giovanni Hidalgo on percussion. A five piece horn section consisting of Aaron Johnson, Stuart Bogie, Ian Hendrickson, Michael Leonhart and Eric Biondo joined the band for Old Folks Boogie, Time Loves a Hero, Day or Night, Mercenary Territory, Spanish Moon, Dixie Chicken, Rocket in My Pocket and Feats Don't Fail Me Now. Willin' featured Page on bass, Mike on piano, Trey on drums and Fish on vocals. Prior to the piano solo at the beginning of Willin', Fish remarked, "That's supposed to be Bill Payne on the keyboard." Don't Bogart That Joint was performed a cappella. Trey introduced the guest musicians at the start of Feats Don't Fail Me Now and Page teased "Charge!" during the introductions. At the conclusion of the second set, the entire band marched the perimeter of the floor. Disease was unfinished, was initially botched, and had to be restarted, prompting Fish to declare, "This one's off our album." Julius featured Giovanni Hidalgo and the Waiting for Columbus horn section.

[2] Debut.
[3] Unfinished.

Notes: This show marked the Phish debut of Golden Age (TV on the Radio) and the debut of Tomorrow's Song. During Page's solo in Coil, the rest of the band left the stage.  Upon returning, Trey said that they had left for the encore and asked Page where he had been, leading into I Been Around. The Fire encore continued the tradition of Phish playing a Hendrix cover on the guitarist's birthday (11/27/92 and 11/27/96 being the other occasions).

I agree. I've recently heard a lot of tracks from these shows. They kick ass. Fans 2 years ago told me these shows were boring and not worth the time. I am officially done listening to fans telling me things suck. 09-10 has some great stuff.

In terms of shows I didn't attend: 11/29/10....I love this show. Love it. Sick R&R, filthy. Also love the Meat/Undermind.

6/15/11....this how was thrown under the bus because of weather....rainstorms don't equate Harpua's, Gamehendges or Lushington's

10/30/09 is rated 3.3ish...I've always thought the Disease-> Caspian> Wolfman's> Piper alone makes this show worthy of a higher rating.

Perhaps I am forgetting about the .net rule that makes it illegal for any show featuring TTE to be considered underrated.

Still makes me a little sad to picture Trey trying to grasp all the negative feedback about TTE and then ultimately deciding not to play it anymore.
