PLEASE Contact A PT Person For Me?

MJZ1974 Permalink
MJZ1974 Can somebody with a PT account PLEASE do me a favor? This is kind of random but...

I glance over there on occasion. Today was such an occasion. They have a bunch of threads going talking about all the Grateful Dead's opening stadium acts in the '80s and '90s.

A PT person by the handle secret_vile wrote this:

[copy/paste]

"thanks, i like listening to the deads opening acts. Dont have to many recordings,I think a lot of the time those sets weren't even taped much. Got anything else? I'd like to hear the 10,oo0 maniacs set from rich stadium "89. After about 25 minutes natalie merchant was having some kind of emotional problem and walked off the stage leaving the rest of the band confused. Nobody in the aud cared or even noticed anything. The violent femmes set from buckeye lake '91 would be good or edie brickells set from rfk "90.I remember enjoying those sets. Also CSN opened a couple of shows for the dead that same year. The rich stadium gig I saw them do was pretty well received by the crowd. I think they also opened @ three rivers that year too./ "

I don't know how PT works...can you send someone a PM? If so...can somebody please tell this secret_vile person to look over here? Thanks...

That was 7-4-89 Rich Stadium, Buffalo. And wouldn't you know it...I have an audience copy of the Maniac's set. Might as well put it here so everyone can grab it:

10,000 Maniacs (opening for Grateful Dead)
7-4-89 Rich Stadium, Orchard Park, NY

mp3 (aud): http://www.mediafire.com/?7c14gl4trxecqf1#!

What's The Matter Here?
Eat For 2
Campfire Song
Cherry Tree
City Of Angels
Blind Faith
Dust Bowl
Trouble Me
Gun Shy
Poison In The Well
Hey Jack Kerouac
Happy Puppet
Like The Weather*
Head Strong
Don't Talk
My Sister Rose

* Cut short because Natalie saw someone OD in the audience "Stop! Stop! Down Here...somebody is passed out and he's TURNING BLUE!!!"

Or something to that effect. I think she thanks The Grateful Dead before Poison In The Well.

This is a great audience recording and an excellent set by what I consider to be BY FAR one of the most underrated musical acts of all time.

10,000 Maniacs kick ass.

MJZ1974 @BajaPhish - I don't have any of the Sting sets. But I know my audience tape from 6-18-93 had In The Sahara as a filler on the end of Set 1, because Jerry sat in with Sting and the boys for that one. So I know it exists...somewhere.

@ Everyone else. - Thanks for the kind words, sincerely. I was put on this Earth to share music, what can I say?

Many Thanks!I got your message and your d/l via PT.Very Surreal listening to this atm.!0.ooo maniacs are surprisingly tight amidst that GA pit at Rich Stadium.I was down front at the(amazing) 1990 dead show there and it could get very intense.I was always amazed at how packed that gigantic stadium would get for deadshows...Natalie Merchant really has very unique vocals, nice control.I've heard those 3 albums 10,000 maniacs did in the mid to late 1980's hundreds of times back in the day. Somebody was always playing them on the road...Thanks again for this,.very cool.
