This time, however, there are no stipulations. I am asking the people of .net what kinds of things they would like to know from Trey. I am doing a story for a magazine, a newspaper and an online news outlet.
Let it flow!
And kudos to you for scoring another interview!!
Edit - whoops, gonna be after Christmas. My bad.
Get me in on the in! :-)
Fans: what are the ways in which you preserve your 'personal' connection with fans (AKA do you PT/.net)?
Music: fav current artists, people you hope to collab with in the future
Nipples: gnarly from multiple slice wounds? intact?
And for further reference: If you could ask Trey...thread
Aside...
You know, I remember back in 2010 (or early '11) someone did an interview with Trey. They asked him where Chris Kuroda lived and Trey said in a storage container (or something along those lines)...dropping hints about Fest 9's Storage Jam? Be careful, OP, read between the lines! That cat is tricky.
Whats the deal with tix being generally all the same price? Are they trying to keep it "equal" for everyone? Or just dont want to bother with tiered pricing? Are they aware of the scalping shitshow?

There is another thread that I cant dig up that has a lot of good discussion points as well.
really want to know why he walked off stage during ghost (10/31/98) but that might be a touchy subject.
Please tell him all of us Phans and .Netters are so happy they are back and sound great!

The set was ending!
youre the new times reporter right? congrats on landing the interview
as a syracuse local, ask him about his and the bands history with the area, i know they played here alot back in the day in shows that were never documented or recorded and tell him to bring the boys back to the war memorial in the spring!

Ask trey what his / the bands opinion is on jamming. i.e. why there was so little of it in 2010, yet increasingly more leading up to this summer, and why? Do they decide before most of their bigs jams that they are going to jam out or do they usually just come spur of the moment, or a little of both?
Ask him how much he / the band looks at the forum and what (if anything) they have taken from the forum and incorporated in a show.

Aside...CORRECTION: It was Trey interviewing Lars Fisk (Lars said he lived in a shipping container house)

@johnnyd, I searched but could not find (ask%trey, trey%interview, trey%question, etc.)
ask him if fish really did drop all that acid that he claims he did. or that someone claims he did.

I don't find this hard to believe at all.
What's he been listening to lately?
Not sure if you have seen this but he mentions members of his current favorite bands in this vid
[/youtube]
Ask him what his .net handle is.hhahahaha, also if he ever has gone on .net forums.
Trey: Um, yeah.
Roving Reporter: Yeah, uh, that was awesome.
Throw down the gauntlet by challenging him to a jogging race.
Actually do not do this.
facepalm
If he remembers this, say that I'm sorry for my mom and would like to have lunch together with him and her so we can set the record straight.
as for a question or two for the article:
1) How is your sleep schedule? Do you sleep through the night or stay up till 4 am? When your on tour I can't imagine you getting to bed before 2 or 3.
Do you stay on a tour sleep schedule at home or go to a "normal" rhythm?
How many hours do you rest with your eyes closed during a 24 hour period.
2) Did Mike leave the stage during the Big Cypress Midnight set? I don't remember him taking a pee break or anything?
Page left for a few, you and Fish ended up in the port-a-let for like 10. I just don't remember Mike taking a break. Does he pelletize his pee like grasshoppers?
3) About Birdwatcher. Why did you take it away from TAB and not include it on Traveler. I loved it, with the girls singing their verses. With TAB it was a fun song, with Phish it's kinda blah.
4) When you play at the cool venues that you used to play at with Phish. Do you ever feel like a stealth, mini venue Phish tour might be in order?
5) What did you do for the holidays? Did you and the family do to the islands? Head to NJ for charity work. Hang in Vermont and get full on good food and family time?
6) When can we get a full tour of webcasts for either TAB or Phish? People would love it.
7) Are we ever going to see another Phish show with the Giant Country Horns?
8) Since TTE is the greatest song you've written in a while. Will we get to hear it, a little more often, in coming years?
9) Would you ever consider, making a Gamehenge themed festival? With the different regions that Colonel Forbin visited? With the music taking a whole day or a few sets to complete?
10) Have you found another dog friend. I know Marley was beyond special. The times that I met her and we hung were priceless. She taught our pup many a lesson when being babysat by friends. I can understand if no other canine has made a connection with you. I feel the same way about out "Lady".
Not sure if any other could or if I'd want to go there again.
Festivals: Any chance your team can construct a (flying) hot dog shaped pirate ship and/or hot dog tunnel of love ride for attendees?
A lot of these are good, legit questions that I will pose. I get a 30-minute phone interview and a brief meet-and greet at the show, so I have to use time wisely. I will post the story here, and photos of Trey and I from the show.
Thanks for all the input!
I'd love to know how he views the influence of his work with TAB and the orchestra shows on his role in Phish. Like the dynamic shifts after Remain in Light and, recently, Waiting for Columbus, has his orchestra work or recent TAB tour affected his playing style or writing style?
And what are his personal musical goals? What does he want to do in the coming years (Phish-related or not..)?
Mt 4 later
Definitely the posts by @wordsfromasong and @haroldhood too, very interesting questionsTotally agree, those are two GREAT QUESTIONS - inquiring minds want to know!
Ask him if he can play YEM in reverse.
Tell him to untie and retie his left shoe, comment on his procedure and ask if he draws inspiration from doing the simplest things in a different way to achieve the same mind bending result.
Ask him what who his daughters favorite artists is. If it's Bieber, ask him how he feels about that.
Ask him if he will try and catch a Led Zeppelin show in 2013.
Ask him if he think's pot is a drug and how he feels about Colorado's approach to legalization.
Ask him if he knows who Gary Clark Jr. is and if he would come to Austin to play with him.
How democratic is the act of rip-cording when a jam could potentially stretch out longer, and in what ways have the band's overall setlist/playing/jamming philosophy changed from the 1.0 & 2.0 eras to the 3.0 era? I'd sort of like to know if they have some kind of signal (like when they'd say 'hey' during their old band practices) that lets the others know, 'dude, we're starting to sound too self-indulgent here, let's play another song.'
**I would ask this as tactfully as possible because I truly love how tight they've been playing since the '09 return. I've had the best times at shows in the last few years! Still, one of the most frequently mentioned issues around here is how fans would dig some deeper exploratory improvisation. Think of how much well-deserved hype the Bethel 'Waves' got last summer, and how the most popular show this summer was the FYF show--not just because of the setlist-spelling gimmick but because they wailed out 'Chalkdust', 'Carini', 'Jim', and 'Undermind.' Moments like that indicate that they could let their improv meander more loosely, but they choose not to. When they do it's that much more of a treat, right?
So, after bugging the hell out of RLM, Ambrosia Healy specifically, I was given an interview with Trey for his Syracuse show. I've interviewed him before, but with the premise that Phish does not come up.Any relation to Dan?

I'm visualizing running with him and chatting about wheat croissants.
I'd also like to know what is in that cup he drinks on stage - and if tea - what kind?
Does he use honey? If so what kind.
I'm visualizing he is a buckwheat honey guy like myself.
I want to know how often if ever he re-listens to shows or watches youtube video's. Can he watch the video's/listen to shows to see the fan perspective and not analyze or is he always listening, critisizing and analyzing himself?
For instance I love re-watching the NYE's gags, has he watched them?
