Holy 4/21/92 Tweezer Batman!

TwiceBitten Permalink
TwiceBitten Got the audio for this one song from a really great thread on early 90s Phish from PT What an absolutely stunning jam this is. It's only 13 and a half minutes long but it goes from atonal to beautiful and back to atonal in the smoothest way possible. The beautiful segment is one of the most glorious Phish jams I've heard in a while.

Download 4/21/92 Tweezer (SBD)

Here's the whole setlist:
April 21, 1992

Redwood Acres Fairgrounds, Eureka, CA

Set 1: Suzy Greenberg, Uncle Pen, Split Open and Melt, Rift, Guelah Papyrus, Possum[1], It's Ice > Eliza > NICU, Bouncing Around the Room > David Bowie

Set 2: Dinner and a Movie, Colonel Forbin's Ascent > Fly Famous Mockingbird > Tweezer > Tela > Mike's Song > I Am Hydrogen > Weekapaug Groove[2], Weigh > Cold as Ice > Catapult[3] > Cold as Ice, Hold Your Head Up > Lively Up Yourself[4] > Cold as Ice, Sanity, Maze, Sweet Adeline[5]

Encore: Cavern

[1] Simpsons, Will the Circle Be Unbroken?, Get Back, Oom Pa Pa, All Fall Down, Aw Fuck!, and Me and My Arrow signals, as well as strong DEG teases.
[2] Happy Birthday tease from Trey and Linus and Lucy tease from Mike.
[3] Only Mike; a cappella.
[4] Phish debut. Trey on drums, Fishman on bass, and Mike on guitar and his only known performance on vacuum.
[5] Without microphones.

Notes: Possum contained Simpsons, Will the Circle Be Unbroken?, Get Back, Oom Pa Pa, All Fall Down, Aw Fuck!, and Me and My Arrow signals, as well as strong Dave’s Energy Guide teases. Dinner and a Movie was preceded by a Colour My World (Chicago) tease. Trey used an interesting voice effect during the Mockingbird narration as he spoke of the evil King Wilson. Hydrogen and Weigh were announced as written by baseball Hall-of-Famer Carl Yastrzemski. Weekapaug contained a Happy Birthday tease and dedication from Trey, as well as a Linus and Lucy tease from Mike. This only known Phish performance of Lively Up Yourself featured Trey on drums, Fishman on bass, and Mike on guitar and his only known performance on vacuum. The Cold as Ice outro was followed by a brief vocal jam about the band's comments on their performance of Lively Up Yourself. Cavern was introduced by Mike as The Prison Joke.

Penn42 That PT thread is just so very volatile. Engaging in a polemic like that is not very useful, especially when everyone in it is acting like a butthurt 4th grader. If they had actually realized that they can't successfully support a "this year is better than that year" statement because they are comparing two completely different types of music (especially a '92/'97 comparison, that's about as polar opposite as they come) then maybe someone would have said something of value. Instead they just spew a bunch of drivel attempting to fact-ify their opinions and it is pretty entertaining, especially when they start insulting each other.

Here's a particularly distasteful bit:

"he's not joking, just has no clue what he's talking about. jsilv is probably the least knowledgeable phan on this entire message board, so I wouldn't take his opinion seriously."

jsilv then replies by mocking this posters faith.

God I'm glad I don't go over there very often.

The mikes is good from this show OP. The hydrogen is a little strange, they try and intertwine staccato in this hydrogen.
