More love for the Moog

Jerrytheband Permalink
Jerrytheband Why doesn't Page play the Moog Little Phatty more? Comon it's awesome! Would love to hear it busted out during a spacey jam

agreed! id love to hear more moog. It seems like page heavily favors the yamaha cs 60, perhaps because the moog is monophonic he cant use it to texturize as he does with the cs 60

ledzepmaster Idk why but I went nuts during the DCU n2 Suzy encore when Page started to tear away away the Little Phatty.

I wish he would use it more as well. Maybe because it cannot play chords.

STYLE: Reflex.
STRENGTHS: One of the most experienced goaltenders in the league. Comes out of net well to challenge shooters. Very sharp reflexes. Quick at regaining his feet.
WEAKNESSES: Very small for an NHL goaltender; he allows an inordinate number of top shelf goals. Five-hole is also a problem. Poor skating ability hampers his lateral movement and his getting back into the net.

Is the moog what Page plays in the following video?

If so, YES, I want some more of it.

Dino_Spumoni Permalink
Dino_Spumoni Was bored a few days ago and was browsing the led zep wikipedia page. Ended up on the John Paul Jones page and it listed all the instruments he plays. One of these instruments being the Continuum.

How amazing would it be if Page learned how to play this and added it to his rig? It's capable of making sounds similar to the theremin and it doesn't come with all the problems that comes with the instrument that makes playing it difficult.

Where shall I go to hear classic Page moog? Please.
pretty much any Suzy Greenberg will have it. It's monophonic though which means you can only play one note at time compared with his CS-60, a more traditional polyphonic synthesizer which can make sounds close sounding to a variety of other instruments.

Euclid Permalink
Euclid If you watch the video of page showing his gear, you can see him get a noticeable boner when he plays some chords on the CS-60. He also comments on the moog, saying it has it's place, but the Yamaha can do most things better.

careful_w_that_axe_Miller @peacey, what video? I got a link to his set up and that's still all Greek to me, any examples aside from the end of suzi g?

MaybeSo_MaybeNot what kind of keyboard does he play on Meatstick? It's primitive, kinda 70's sounding, yet so perfect. Just curious.

Mike's Moog Taurus gives me chills.

Roofless_Sheds Permalink
Roofless_Sheds my two favorite Moog breakdowns happen in the 8/13/96 Deer Creek Mike's when Trey jumps over to the drum kit (check out the LP release, awesome scary Mike's), and, the granddaddy of them all...

THE RUPP GIN.

if you haven't heard this, you're in for a treat. the SBD, as well as SBDs of the 11/3/96 Tweezer and 11/18/96 Simple, can be found in the 'Road To Vegas' Fall '96 compilation, downloadable here.

lots of great Moog in '96, usually when Trey takes a drum break.
