Halloween 2013

Zutroy Permalink
Zutroy Personally, I'd love for them to play an album from 1983. So many great options from that year:

Murmur
Thriller
Violent Femmes
War
Synchronicity
Pyromania
Genesis
Let's Dance
Shout at the Devil
Punch the Clock
Score: 2

microdan Permalink
I'd love to see Meddle or American Beauty.

n00b100 You know what? I'd like them to go outside their comfort zone and do an album like Return to Cookie Mountain. Granted, they probably couldn't pull off all the vocals, but they'd do well enough (it's not like they butcher Golden Age or anything), and the really thick and meaty polyrhythmic anthems of TV on the Radio fit this incarnation of Phish to a T (again, see Golden Age). And, let's be honest, they've been so beholden to classic rock over their careers and especially their Halloween shows, this just might help them find yet another level of performance. The last time they covered an album that was just over a decade old at the time, it didn't turn out too badly...

ETA: I do love that album, but good Jesus does that name suck.

n00b100 Actually, the more I think about it the more I'm enamored with Phish doing an album from the last decade or so. Imagine what they could do with Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix? A 15+ minute jam out of Lizstomania? Si, mas bueno. Or go the MGB route and do In Rainbows (a great album that also wouldn't carry the same cultural freight that Kid A would)? Hell, if you want to stay more trad-rock, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot would also be a great choice - there's a lot of spaciness in that album anyway, and Wilco jams those songs out on stage, so surely Phish could as well. The possibilities are endless.

I think a recent album would be great musically, but it wouldn't be an album from the year that they formed, which would be the whole point of the 1983 thing and all.

Would LOVE to hear them do Animals. One of my favorite albums of all time. On average, I listen to it in its entirety 3-4 times a week. Any Zeppelin album would be good.

ledzepmaster I'm sorry, Trey would never pull off In My Time of Dying.

Plus the double album would require a mammoth 2nd set... or better yet, a 4th set. I'd love to see it happen though.

If they were going to do Zep, they would have done II, IV, or Houses. I'd still love to see it happen though.

Which album would that be?? I'm having a hard time thinking of any Phish Halloween Costume that was a more recent album. Remain in Light came out in 1980 so it was 16 years since its release-- hardly "recent" especially when you consider the album came out before Phish even existed...
