Late in the Evening - Paul Simon

I never heard SCI do it. I always liked that song. Actually most Paul Simon is pretty awesome. I will have to look up some SCI versions of it.

Don't know if this has been said, but I thought about this when in this thread. As I said there, it should have about a 10-15 jam before the "Mr. Mojo risin'!" section. Basically just an extension of what's there that builds into that section.

This is one of my favorite Floyd songs. I feel like the first section could really give Fishman an opportunity to rock out as I feel he doesn't get to show off enough. I can't help but think the second funky section starting at 7:30 is some sort of ancestral Mike Gordon groove. The boys could take this anywhere.

I would like to see Phish take on Sonic Youth. I'd love a Daydream Nation Halloween costume. The Diamond Sea would be a fair compensation.

But really, the fact that Phish has never covered Sonic Youth is baffling to me. Both bands really did the same thing, they both re-formed and carried on e genre, both stretched the status quo image and sound to it's extended and far-fetched limitations. Both (with argument) peaked from the late 80s-the late 90s)

Seems like a match made in heaven. And given the nature of Sonic Youth, there is strong type 2 potential. Goo and Experimental Jet Set in particular, all of it has potential though
