i'd get tears in my eyes if they brokeout a Morning dew, or a classic pig song such as hard to handle or good morning little schoolgirl or a lovelight, and i'd be knocked down by a sing me back home or midnight moonlight. I know i cant help it I'm a recalcitrant dead head but now a true phishhead too.
Score: 1

dabpigpen Permalink
i thought id posted this but...i'd have tears for a morning dew and how good would trey sound on a midnight moonlight? and they would kill any of the pigpen classics especially wrong doing woman (lied and cheated).

Trey would destroy this tune. Who should sing? Page?

I never heard SCI do it. I always liked that song. Actually most Paul Simon is pretty awesome. I will have to look up some SCI versions of it.

cjfphan21 Permalink
cjfphan21 Don't know if this has been said, but I thought about this when in this thread. As I said there, it should have about a 10-15 jam before the "Mr. Mojo risin'!" section. Basically just an extension of what's there that builds into that section.

I bet a lot of people would have no clue what they were hearing, but myself and others would lose our shit.

This is one of my favorite Floyd songs. I feel like the first section could really give Fishman an opportunity to rock out as I feel he doesn't get to show off enough. I can't help but think the second funky section starting at 7:30 is some sort of ancestral Mike Gordon groove. The boys could take this anywhere.

Trey would destroy it, but there *has* to be a second guitar IMO. moe. does a nice job with it actually.

i figure if i write these 2 songs in every one of these threads, it'll happen some day... right?

1) ween- flutes of the chi
2) talking heads- moon rocks
I've gotta ask, and I mean no disrespect by this, I like Flutes Of Chi..of all the Ween songs, why Flutes of Chi?

I would like to see Phish take on Sonic Youth. I'd love a Daydream Nation Halloween costume. The Diamond Sea would be a fair compensation.

But really, the fact that Phish has never covered Sonic Youth is baffling to me. Both bands really did the same thing, they both re-formed and carried on e genre, both stretched the status quo image and sound to it's extended and far-fetched limitations. Both (with argument) peaked from the late 80s-the late 90s)

Seems like a match made in heaven. And given the nature of Sonic Youth, there is strong type 2 potential. Goo and Experimental Jet Set in particular, all of it has potential though

I imagine Trey wants slow version cause he could SHRED the solo!

hell to the yeah for "falling to pieces"- i'd love to hear gordo slap that!!

and most definitely "low spark...."- from the very first time i heard this i though this would be a perfect phish jam

i'd also like to add "werewolves of london"- i mean c'mon, really!! perhaps this is just TOO obvious, but this would be an excellent 1st set number

Superballin Permalink
Superballin After a considerable amount of thought, I have decided that if Page had one shot at a Billy Joel song, it should be The Entertainer. It's a perfect Page song.

feralchild Permalink
feralchild I don't think we'll ever hear any of the really good pink floyd (read: 1970-72) from the boys. Not that I wouldn't lose my sh** if they tried it. For one thing, they just don't have the gear. Set the controls or Saucerful of Secrets would be regoddamned dickulous, but where's the gong? Where's the Binson Echorec? Where's Rick Wright? Can you imagine Trey sitting on the floor with the 'doc across his lap, making f***ing space sounds? Mike/Page screaming backwards for Careful w/that Axe? Again, I'd absolutely lose my sh** but I am not holding my breath. I don't think Phish are as big PF fans as I am.

More realistically,
Talking Heads: 'Nothing But) Flowers'

Every time I hear this song I imagine Phish playing it. I think Mike could do the vocals. 8 minute jam.

Eminence Front - The Who
Ziggy Stardust - David Bowie

feralchild MORE WEEN. Songs I could totally see Phish doing, besides Roses and Flutes of the Chi:

in no particular order

Dr. Rock
Captain Fantasy
Don't Sweat It
Buckingham Green
Bananas and Blow
I Fell In Love Today
Did you See Me?
Happy colored marbles
A Tear for Eddie
Ice Castles
The Grobe

Your Party (ok kind of kidding, but can u imagine Page on vocals?)

they can't do Learning to Live because Trey would forget the words.
