Farmstead Hill

Harrynuggs Permalink
Harrynuggs Just had their ipa and double ipa for the fist time. Wow, hit me in all the right places, citrus, pine, and dank. I would put it up there with the heady topper, the ipa is more drinkable than heady topper.

We were at the worthy burger in south royalton, great burgers and a selection of taps for any beer lover. Heady music too boot. Check it out if your in the area.

johnnyd Greensboro I believe. Even further out there. Northeast Kingdom just about.

We've never even been to the brewery yet. but we can get a variety on draught at multiple local spots. I havent had one of their beers yet thats been less than exceptional. Best brewery in VT (and probably much further) right now, imo.

Fenris Yeah, he's in Greensboro. Amazing beer but the head guy is super ornery! I'm right in Johnson, so it's easy to come by.

Fenris No kidding! When? I've been in and out of that area since '95! Did you ever see the Mud City Ramblers when you were there? I'm the banjo player. We probably drank a beer at Prospect rock or something ;)

Harrynuggs Hmmm, Can't recall the mud city grambers. Prospect rock I can recall, I lived on railroad st. For three years and Morrisville for one. I graduated in 2000, played rugby and snowboarded at Stowe a bunch. Also spent some, or a lot, of time at the LT. Still have friends in Stowe and Eden and get up there a few times a year.

johnnyd Ha ha, I'm glad you said it @fenris! But yeah. Ornery is diplomatic from what I've heard. But to his credit, I know multiple people in the brewing community that don't like him personally, but not only acknowledge how good he is, but rave about his beers. I feel like that says a lot.

Fenris I love and miss the old Long Trail Tavern. That place was raging back in the day! Chicky was the best bartender! Anyway, I love that area and there's no shortage if amazing beer now. Between Heady Topper an Hillstead Farms I'd say we're doing alright!

And yeah, ornery was a bit of an understatement, I guess. But his beer makes up for it.

Harrynuggs Hahaha Chicky. One night we were up there and someone was getting her going saying that she couldn't drive her truck well. It was a jacked up toyota with really wide tires on. She goes out and blows donuts in the parking lot, shooting rockes at everyones cars, cracking windows. Classic Chicky.

Where is the Long Trail Tavern you're talking about? I'm assuming its not the Inn at Long Trail, at the top of Sherburne pass on Rt. 4...

A couple of really good friends just bought a house in Johnson. He has roots there, but theyve been in B-ton for a bunch of years. Looking forward to checking it out.

The Long Trail Tavern is in Johnson. It's actually closed right now but will reopen later this year. I've been in and out of the Johnson area for around eighteen years. Johnson's pretty small but really cool with a tight knit crew and community. It's a good place. You should check it out sometime.

johnnyd Definitely hope too. I've been through and around a few times, but never spent quality time there. Now that I've got close friends living there that is sure to change!

Harrynuggs @fenris did you check the roots out when they played at JSC in 1999? Pretty good show, I'm sure they played it for the acustics, heard they put some on it on roots come alive. Anyway they mocked the primarily Caucasian crowd by playing the cheers anthem.

@jonnyd the woolen mills has some great, warm, and durable threads.

Yeah, the Roots show was great. I remember when some people jumped up on stage and Questlove got pissed and yelled something like "can't I do my thing?!?" There's been so many sick shows at JSC. I've seen Bela Fleck, Ween, Culture, Pfunk, Michael Ray and Trey, Arlo Guthrie, Pat Metheny, Sandip Burman, Dark Star, and more. Sadly they aren't really booking bigger shows there lately. My favorite moment up there was the Ween show. The place was packed beyond capacity, there was people smoking weed and drinking beer all over the place. My good buddy Jan, the theater director was standing right next to me and Ween was playing Let me Lick Your Pu$$y. I looked at Jan and he looked totally defeated and freaked out by the pandemonium. But he was laughing at the same time. Good times in and around JSC!
