Best Dead site for downloads?

HHCCCCAA Permalink
Big lover of the PHiSH/ the Dead. I know all about the spreadsheet and phishows.com, but what is a solid recommendation for a similar type of site for the Dead? I've got a pretty extensive collection at this point and do have my go-to sites, just wondering what you prefer to use to see if a switch is in order ...

There are a million programs to convert FLAC to mp3 (see here for example).

Also, @Jerrytheband, what's the point of converting to wav?

You don't lose the audio quality that you would lose if you converted to mp3. flac is just contensed wav files. if you convert back to wav, like i said you don't lose anything

Thank you all. By any frickin' chance, would anybody be able to help me out and send me mp3s of the Dead @ Giants Stadium on June 17th, 1991? My buddy is trying to burn it to a disc for his brother-in-law for Christmas. It was one of his favorites or some such thing. Any efforts would be greatly appreciated, it's for a friendly reason !! And if you happen to be able to help me and will be at the Garden next weekend, maybe a few bucks or a couple beers could suffice? Holler at me if you can help! Thanks.

Yeah, but you don't gain anything either. By converting to WAV, you're just making the files bigger for no reason (that I can think of). Pretty much every audio program in existence supports either FLAC or ALAC, so WAV is useless unless you're doing audio editing or something.

You gain better audio quality and you can put them on a CD. mp3 is trash so

Harry__Hood95 If you want solid Dead recordings, just download the Workingman's Wednesday show every week. You get quality shows along with some backstory to fill you in. I think he even posted a link to the WW archive, so you can play catchup with all the shows you may have missed.

Aye. I have a pretty massive collection of Grateful Dead SBDs and other stuff but I ALWAYS check Workingman's Wednesday. Even if I already have the show it's worth it just to read the story about the show

TwiceBitten 6/17/91 Giants Stadium is a really special Dead show. Teased the heck out of Dark Star. I talked to David Lemieux sometime within the last year and he said they had plans of releasing this show as a DVD/CD set in the near future.

I: Eyes Of The World, Walkin' Blues, Brown Eyed Women, Dark Star Jam -> When I Paint My Masterpiece, Loose Lucy, Cassidy, Might As Well

I: Dark Star Jam -> Saint Of Circumstance-> Ship of Fools-> Dark Star Jam -> Truckin'-> New Speedway Boogie-> Uncle John's Band-> Drums-> Dark Star Jam-> China Doll-> Playin' In The Band Reprise-> Sugar Magnolia

E: The Weight

There's already a video of the whole show on youtube. Eyes opener is so joyous:

dealgodown This is a cool blog that has a lot of dead shows on it. I think most or all of them are from the archive. Has little write ups about the shows and such. Kinda like "mr minors phish thoughts" for old grateful dead recordings. it is a nice site to browse through on a sunday like this.

Seriously though, my go-to Dead lossless site is shnflac.net. That's where you get all the Charlie Miller sources first.
