Someone threw about 100-150 glow sticks (the thicker ones) at once from about section101 and it sparked a roar....happened more than once

Slothberries cause people were having fun. You guys remember what fun at a phish show is.

York_Durden Phish, 'Reba', glowsticks. Not very mysterious.

walstib It started with some glowsticks but got much louder on contagious impulse. It was just the crowds ball of energy deciding to release. No actual reason for it.

"No idea, totally average Reba" - Uhm... the crowd went nuts because the energy was there and we were cheering on the band folks. That kind of thing happens at a Phish show!! Everyone was saying that was one of the best moments of the night...it certainly was. It shows you how much the crowd can really be in control of the show. No killer guitar solo or crazy breakdown needed to get the crowd roaring...just Reba.

I personally have two things to say in this thread, one of them being an answer to the opening question. I was screaming and I think many around me can agree that it was so the band really knows we love what their doing. Theirs really no other way to communicate with them that they can appreciate. The 2nd note is that I think the Reba (along with the entire show) totally kicked ass. Suckit if you don't agree because I don't care if you can't appreciate a great phish show for what it was. Can't wait for the next 2!!

It was a pleasure to share the show with you. Last nights crowd was an A+ IMO. Reba wasn't the only random outburst of crowd energy. I think it happened 3 or 4 times just because everyone was feeling it.

Something other than silence = contagious in moments like these.

TwiceBitten Maybe I'm over analyzing, but that had to be one of the single most out of touch moments I've witnessed at a Phish concert. I really felt like the crowd was masturbating themselves and Phish could have "pissed in their ears" to a similar effect.
Score: 1

tripsforjoeg Permalink
tripsforjoeg I just think it was a genuine "Thank you Phish" moment. 1st night jitters gone for the crowd and the band. Just a vocalization of how happy we are all to be there. I'm not sure it had anything to do with what song was playing. Just the right energy in the room.

Kuroda spelled Phish in the lights. That's when it started. Then glow sticks. It did drown out part of the jam but it was cool to see/hear the crowd erupt.

SpiritWolf I thought crowd participation last night was huge, we were groovin and loud, but i do wish sometimes we would control ourselves and not drown out the band for 5-10 seconds, this happened multiple times last night. Especially during start and stops when 3/4 of the band goes quiet and instead of hearing what theyre building all i can here is crowd cheer. Also cheering over pages outro in Coil, took me out of the moment a little bit. But thats part of the experience so i accept it and look forward to tonight.
