Some notes about the forum - Phish.net Forum

Since the last Phish shows at Dick's, our little site has grown significantly. Although we anticipate large amounts of traffic, we didn't realize that once the traffic from MSG shows was combined with a massively increased database size, we'd see things start to get so shaky.

We've make a ton of changes to the way the site works, in particular, the forum, which causes the heaviest load. I've seen the server's performance get under control today, and I'll be blogging about the changes we made (which is basically in the implementation of memcached, the massive increase in caching and the manner in which caching works, and the cleanup of the file system's cached objects).

IF the site starts to crumble tonight, I will be turning the forum off until a better solution can be found - for the greater good. However, given yesterday afternoon and today as comparison, I'm hopeful that the environment is prepared for this evening.

Huge thanks for everything you and the rest of the admins do, @sethadam1. You've made this a great place to visit and talk Phish. And it's heartening to hear that the site's grown since Dick's - guess people are finally realizing the band's back in peak form and want to get back on the train. PLENTY OF ROOM, FOLKS.

@sethadam1 The pagination seems to be a little buggy, not sure if just me. I'm in Chrome. DOnation thread comes up as one long one. Last nights "show" thread paginates correctly. Tried toggling too.
