My thoughts on 12/29..

HarryHood420 Like most have already said by now, the energy was definitely there that night and the song selection was good for the most part. But the jams could have been better. Looking at it from a song selection stand point it looks pretty good. Listening throughout the songs now though are kind of a let down from a jam perspective as they are pretty much just your standard 3.0 jams. Reba seemed cut off way too soon right as they seemed to be working into something nice. Waves, a GREAT jamming vehicle for the boys was also cut off too short, there was much potential here. It disappointed me because they have been known to jam this one out fearlessly and with what seemed to be comfort(IT festival, bethel soundcheck). Now not saying that all the jams weren't good, golden age was rocking, 46 days melted my face, and a solid bug stuck out for me that night.

The boys can jam and we have seen it then AND now, the question is, why do they seem to not jam at new years runs recently? I attended both this year and last year and the jams were pretty much the standard 3.0's. Are they afraid to take the risk? Who knows... I would've loved to hear a 20+ minute reba or waves. Regardless of all this, no matter what Phish plays or how they do, they always deliver, even on a bad day. Thats what i love about the band. I give the show a 3.5/5

Raible Whatever your misgivings about last night, tonight should have balanced them out. So far, we have 2 of 3 better than average shows in this run (first night may have been 1/2 a really good show, I concede), with tonight ranking well with the other 12-30 titans of eras past. Pick up the FLACs and make it go to 11! Lots to love across this run. Much better overall than last year, for sure.
