External HDD not working. Help?

mjrphishhead Permalink
mjrphishhead I have a 1TB Seagate GoFlex external and it has been working fine. I used it yesterday to add a few shows to it, ejected it, unplugged it (normal procedure), then realized I forgot to add a show that I meant to add so I plugged it back in and now the indicator light is fading on and off but it will not show up on my computer. Does anybody have any idea on what the problem might be or am I pretty much screwed? Thanks ahead.

chris200w First step should be to look in the owner's manual. Usually those light patterns mean something.

If that doesn't get you anywhere, you can try reformatting the drive. If it wasn't physically damaged this could bring it back to its functioning, factory state.

Hopefully your data is backed up somewhere.

mjrphishhead Thanks @chris200w, I will check that out. Unfortunately all my data is on the external aside from my computer. But thankfully it's nothing incredibly important, just a helluva lotta shows I've downloaded over the past year and a half or so...damn.
