the_Crested_Hogchoker The drowned from Darien Lake 09 was pretty hacked up, but far from funny. Emotional Rescue gets skewered pretty good too.

TheArgus Fish cheesin his way through Cracklin Rose can't be topped IMO, it's so bad that you wanna listen to it on repeat for hours to appreciate how bad is really is.

Long time no see... How ya been dude? Happy New Year.
I've been good man, just busy trying to graduate and raise funds for my tuition, I really don't wanna have to take out my first student loan for my last semester of college lol. But yeah, work, school, sleep, repeat.

Happy new year to you as well my odd friend

DrPeterVenkman I got to see the debut of Golden Age, that was rough as hell. The composed part still makes me cringe, but I love the jam it can provide.

For one reason or another, I never count the cover in Harpua sandwich as being legit, because it almost always sucks.

That was my issue with Golden Age, I am a HUGE TV On The Radio fan and I don't really care for the Phish cover of it.

BernardShakey UM do a terrible Baba O'reilly. I don't know how good or bad they are as a band, I have only heard their cover of this song, really, but it is not good at all. It's a very hard song to sing though.

This one time, in bush camp, a group of machete-wielding drummers chopped up a drummer from a rival tribe.

Those in attendance all agreed that they had seen a bunch of hacks.

TheElectricMayhem Las Vegas 4/15/2004. Phish attempts Jay-Z's Girls Girls Girls. Trey "raps" and Hartswick wails out vocals. Possibly more hilarious was Jay-Z's guest performance of 99 Problems & Big Pimpin' in Brooklyn that June.

i love the covers. i wonder why they chose them, obvious guess being they liked to listen to them and want to play them (maybe as homage), and being a similar age to the band we have some overlapping loves. i truly marvel at the halloween shows. think of what it takes to play a whole album by another band, especially "Waiting for Columbus" which is an iconic live double album. And i would expect that when a band, especially a jamming band, plays a cover they "interpret" it and stay within the original framework but incorporate their musical ideas. Many covers aren't copies and probably shouldn't be. I'm lucky enough to have seen the dead (that means with Jerry) over 300 times and JGB over a 100 times etc. and saw many "covers" that were opined to be not as good as the original and i think that misses the point. We are seeing/hearing our band show some love for music they love and were probably influenced by. Falling in love with the dead exposed to me to music i never would have heard of if i only listened to classic rock. Sure the stones taught us americans about our blues music, but so did the dead, and the dead brought us bluegrass, traditional music, various world music and so on. I have had the pleasure of seeing mickey rapping "Playing in the band" before rap was popular. So, simply, i love the covers even when they make one miss the original. And as a phan i appreciate that phish is willing to take the chance, even lightheartedly, and have some PHUN!!! and for the record my show buddies often tell me i'm too critical at some shows, but i still love them. I'm still reveling in the DWD> TWEnty> Carini from the 30th!!! Enjoy

kipmat Some good ones posted in this thread, but IMO the winner is Lively Up Yourself, 4/21/92. Fishman on bass and vocals, Mike Gordon on guitar and the Electrolux. Please check it out, if only to hear the whole band "apologize" to the audience afterwards.
