Yes indeed I enjoyed all 4 nights.I like it too. I just felt it was an odd placement. The energy built in the Carini jam just didn't say "Number Line" to me, but that's okay because they were enjoying themselves and that makes me happy beyond measure.
I like number line.
To me it was a welcome release after the darkness of Carini.
To me it was a welcome release after the darkness of Carini.I can see that. I was expecting the Carini jam to move out of the darkness first though. Or at least begin to. If that makes sense...
I agree with this with the sole exception of the BDTNL placement. I really thought that Carini jam was going somewhere that was not BDTNL.
i had a feeling we were gonna get it that night. and i actually thought the transition from Carini and placement was perfect. it was a much needed breather for all. Solid version too...no complaints here.
Edit: Also, I was (very unfortunately) not in the room that night. I was (very fortunately) webcasting with friends. I may have felt differently were I there. Furthermore, I haven't had a chance to re listen, so I may hear it differently the second time around.
carini -> shafty -> undermind
...and wrong
Just to make this perfectly clear: I am in no way complaining about anything.Your a good man bro, I understand what you mean, I doubt anyone on this fine forum took offense. I like what you are thinking though, my noob as didnt even think of that transition, I've enjoyed the discussion and the thought process.

Thank you
Would have liked to see Carini-> Spooky, then BDTNL

These were just my thoughts while watching things unfold that glorious night (as every night I get to watch live Phish is glorious, be it in the flesh, on my tv, my computer or even my phone as was the case for Portsmouth this year.)Just to make this perfectly clear: I am in no way complaining about anything.Your a good man bro, I understand what you mean, I doubt anyone on this fine forum took offense. Now that I think of it, maybe every thread needs a little of that.
To me it was a welcome release after the darkness of Carini.I think thats exactly what Trey was going for.
A "snap back" to reality for everyone in the room.
Plus, as a friend of mine said, Trey LOVES to play BDTNL. If he wants to play it after the DWD> 20 years> Carini jam fest...then he should play it.
Didn't quite live up to its potential, but I was at work on new years eve, twatter was sending the setlist to my phone. I saw Ghost> Piper(cue raging semi)> Light(I just tucked it in my waistband at that point)> 2001(blew a load in my belly button) Then they > into The horse, I felt shameum...eww.
@joyjoy said:This echoes my feelings as well. I distinctly recall releasing a sigh of relief when BDTNL started and looking around at others who had the same "whew!" look on their face. Had they gone any deeper, I may have ground my teeth into powder. To me it was a welcome release after the darkness of Carini.I think thats exactly what Trey was going for.

thank god they played that BDTNL 12/6/97 .......Tweezer -> Izabella -> Backwards Down The Number Line -> Piper, Sleeping Monkey > Tweezer Reprise ....... If they had gone any deeper after that Izabella I would have really had my face melted off.HA!

+1'd
Edit: This NYE run as a whole had pretty good song selection. Man, am i glad me,and my crew decided you just can't miss a Sunday show. Especially one at MSG. So, we stuck around for round 3 of th.e.run before making our way down to Charlotte immediately after the show in order to catch Panic for NYE. Man, 2012 was just a killer year for live music for me. Saw a lot of good stuff throughout the whole year.

listen to the end of the carini jam like right before they go into number line and it sounds like they are about to drop into lizards, and then trey pulls them outta that into number line. woulda been sweet if they played lizards
I def heard lizards as well and was just as surprised they didnt go into it. Might be my imagination but I was really close to the stage and it seemed like Mike wasnt too thrilled with bdtnl
