He says on website forum for a band. :-)

But seriously good for you. Facebook is dumb. They are just trying to figure out how to sell you stuff or take the stuff you post and sell it (most recently the pictures you put up). Seriously, anything you put up there is not only up there forever but by posting it you grant them a license to basically do whatever they want. Messed up.

@iguana also created a thread looking for a GD fan forum.

subbing one social media for another hardly sounds like an eradication of an unnecessary and unnatural time waster

ypehmish Ha I recently went back after a 6 month break.

Not half bad. I live away from friends and family so if you properly use it, it's the easiest way to keep in touch. Jeez, I sound like a plant.

good point, except forums are not an outright flaunt of your entire social life.

Mainly I keep track of local-ish events and music with fb. Extremely handy for that.

This... You can customize it to do whatever you want. You don't have to post any pictures of yourself. You don't have to post any statuses if you don't want to. If you don't want to see what everyone else is doing, you can block them from their news feed.

I don't see what the big hubbub is about, and I generally avoid hubbubs.

all of you that think you're too cool for school - your data is out there unless you are extremely vigilant and or tech savvy or avoid the internets, which you don't because you are on here. My job deals heavily in people's personal data and basically Your data's being dealt

Dun-dun dun.... @Slothberries strikes again, dropping some logic.

I had a Facebook account for 24 hrs, then decided I didn't want it... so I simultaneously agree w/ op and find his post to be pretty dumb... Watcha gonna do?

That actually changed a little while ago (maybe a year-ish?). I had my account deactivated for a couple of months and I remember reactivating it specifically to delete it completely. Does that really mean all of the data I had uploaded was completely deleted?View Spoilers But it seemed like a more permanent action than deactivating.

Facebook wasn't a good thing for me, but I really couldn't care less if other people use it or how they use it. There are plenty of good ways to use Facebook, so I wouldn't presume to know if it's a good or a bad thing for someone else.
