Ok, so it's no secret that I suck at all things technological. I bought my boy an X-Box for Christmas, the 4gb version (didn't realize just how much space games took up). My question: Can I hook up the external hard drive I have connected to my PC to my X-Box as well via USB to create storage space? Will it work just the same? Will it be able to save games? Was the first sentence of this paragraph a run-on sentence?

dude...get a 16 gb thumb drive... you need to have a dedicated thumb drive or external hd because the formatting is different then pc....if you need more space, thumbdrives are the cheapest way to do it....they plug in the same usb slot as a wired controller does...

the hard drives are different on the new xbox vs the original xbox360...we use thumb drives at my house and they work fine... when you first plug it in it will walk you through how to format....walmart has 16gb thumb drives for 10 bucks...dont use the thumbdrive on a pc after you use it for xbox or it will clear all your saved data....

I have yet to get into it, really. It was more for my son to be honest. Hes really into the Spiderman Friend or Foe demo. Im going to have to try to find the full game. He loves Fruit Ninja for the Kinect..gotra admit, funny as shit. Games sure have changed since my Coleco-vision!So hey, is X-Box Live worth dropping $60?

if your just getting into using it, you can try the free trial live gold account (that should have come with the xbox)... at least they used to....
if not, pm me...i have a code for 2 free day's trial...but if you dont have any games yet, other then the ones your son has then i wouldnt do live yet.
you can get some used games at game stop for a decent price... Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is a good game to start with if you like first person shooter games...9.99 used at game stop...or Halo 3 if you like futuristic battle games 14.99.
I never played skyrim, but heard that is good....there are a ton of games....the sports games are all seasonal so if you pick one up thats a few years old, they are basically all the same but about 7-9 dollars... all the brand new games are $60 or more if you get the limited edition or preimum version...

Just upgrade and get the full xbox hardrive. You will be glad you did in the long run. The xbox is meant to be used as a multimedia device, not just a gaming console. Once you start dialing in all the features you will be stoked that you don't have to worry about constantly deleting things.
