While the second night may be the most lackluster after a few spins the second set Golden>Waves>Caspian is tight! Not the best ever or anything but if this show is the 'Worst' of the run in many .neter's opinion man are we lucky to have this band! With that being said there are no obvious ripcords or flubs IMO at any of the MSG NY RUN! If anyone has any favorites from the run that are not standouts (ie Tweezer DWD Ghost ect) lets hear your Opinions!

I didn't catch some of the songs I was really hoping for but they surprised me by gracing me with crowd control/ mound/ Limb by Limb. How can we complain?.sure that show wasnt trippy heady exploritory maaaaaan, but they cant all be and do you really want them to? For the people who are only satisfied with long exploratory jams listen to golden age. For everyone else, this is a loud banging ROCK CONCERT with some awesome songs.

"Tight" is the last word I would use to describe that Waves...the worst they've played, imo. Didn't sound rehearsed in the least, with Trey playing the wrong chords all over the place on what is a very easy and simple song...and not to mention it got ripcorded, which downcasts it further. Just didn't have the spark.

The LXL was intense. I don't mean to tout it as a "best ever", but I was with @conphucius grooving to this tune and we had an exchange during this tune that went something along these lines:@conphucius: "Woah. That's some serious yellow brick road shit going on right here." (not necessarily the song, but the feeling of it).
@mfhgreyboy: "Uuughgasgh."

I was fully immersed in the LxL. (as well as many other points in the show.)Just because its the 4th best show of the run doesn't mean it wasn't the best music (and party...) going on, arguably, anywhere in the world at at that time.
My other thought from the 1st set was, with Mound, Sugar Shack, and LxL (let alone Reba) in the first set, I felt like they (and particularly Mike and Fish) were trying to challenge themselves. Thats some tricky low end to hold down, and putting them all together in one set struck me as making a statement.
Also, this show, directly behind Page in 219 (I think) was unquestionably the best sound I had for the run. Every instrument crystal clear, plenty of volume, but not too much. Fishman sounded like a one man carnival all night. I love it when that happens. Beautiful.

Yes my point even the most lackluster show is down right PHISHY! Can't think of a song from the run that I will not spin regularly until the next tour! Maybe I won't play the Iron Man that much!

The "follow the yellow brick road" tease in Limb by Limb made a lot more sense after the nye gag (little people).

I have to say for me the highlight of 12/29 is the Boogie on, mike is killing it the whole song as usual. There's awesome energy and simple but fantastic jamming from around 4:12-> the beginning of suzy around the 6 minute mark in this great vid @mkdevo blessed us with. So here's my "favorite not standout" of the run.

my only wish of the run is that they would have jammed waves out for at least 3-4 minutes but youll not hear me complaining one bit

Imo the biggest reason why this show was the worst of the run. not to be 'that guy' but from a purely musical basis (ie playing the correct notes) they effed this song up bad not to mention its only a 7 or so minute waves and it was the second song of the second set. these days, thats usually a jam peak of the show, and im pretty sure they wanted it to be bethel-like but it fell short sooo bad. listen to the bethel sound check waves and you will never listen to this waves again.

I liked 12/29 a lot. It was a rock show. Boogie, Suzy, cavern, 46 daysWhen the band does this they know what they're doing. Type2 clearly is not their only passion. Some shows are like 8/31 where jamming is clearly the focus. Others are like 12/29 where busting nuts all over the audience is the focus.
And yeh I also loved the opening segment of the second set.

you can't compare these shows and say one was the "worst"
i feel like it's more proper to say the "least" .....as in the -least- mindblowing ;-)
this run was so good
and while the second set wasn't what i really go for as far as song selection, everything they played they ripped apart. it was all just really really well played. so while i can understand some people for why they may not like it because of what they played that second set, i don't see how anybody could be disappointed in how they played. they just tore it up that night
i haven't listened back since the show, and while yes this was my least favorite night of the run, i was still excited by how well they were playing
