With that being said there are no obvious ripcords or flubs IMO at any of the MSG NY RUN! If anyone has any favorites from the run that are not standouts (ie Tweezer DWD Ghost ect) lets hear your Opinions!
O where O where will we PHISH be next?
I thoroughly enjoyed the Mound from 12/29
@conphucius: "Woah. That's some serious yellow brick road shit going on right here." (not necessarily the song, but the feeling of it).
@mfhgreyboy: "Uuughgasgh."
***90 second time lapse***
@mfhgreyboy: "Dude. Thanks for saying something. I was completely lost there for a few minutes."
/loved it
"Tight" is the last word I would use to describe that Waves...the worst they've played, imo. Didn't sound rehearsed in the least, with Trey playing the wrong chords all over the place on what is a very easy and simple song...and not to mention it got ripcorded, which downcasts it further. Just didn't have the spark.Don't hear the ripcord you speak of and if this is the 'worst ever' cool I dig it!
Just because its the 4th best show of the run doesn't mean it wasn't the best music (and party...) going on, arguably, anywhere in the world at at that time.
My other thought from the 1st set was, with Mound, Sugar Shack, and LxL (let alone Reba) in the first set, I felt like they (and particularly Mike and Fish) were trying to challenge themselves. Thats some tricky low end to hold down, and putting them all together in one set struck me as making a statement.
Also, this show, directly behind Page in 219 (I think) was unquestionably the best sound I had for the run. Every instrument crystal clear, plenty of volume, but not too much. Fishman sounded like a one man carnival all night. I love it when that happens. Beautiful.
Golden Age is getting boring...No way -- we've finally started doing the clapping part correctly!

No you haven't.
my only wish of the run is that they would have jammed waves out for at least 3-4 minutes but youll not hear me complaining one bit

My only complaint of the run is snow and no -7*or a 1995-style Buried Alive for that matter.

Yeah I really felt this coming and have been dying to get one
@Skiguythought this was a nice fit. felt better to me than the numberline the night before. i actually would of probabally liked Carini> the horse> silent in the morning> Julius> Slave better. the horse would allow phish to work out that darkness and then bliss us in silent. while i enjoyed the emergency eject from dark trance into happy happy there is just something about it that rubs me the wrong way. but hey im not phish. luckily they slayed bdtnl and i still think its a neat song, just weird. lot of high fives, hugs and bowls during bdtnl.
Silent Horse.

Didn't sound rehearsed in the least, with Trey playing the wrong chords all over the placethis is what i was coming here to say. there is a key change that they make in the verse of this song that is absolutely crucial to the musical flow of the song and the overall vibe of the song. i dont think they hit it once. every single time someone was off. mostly trey, but i feel like when trey was on, page wasnt. probably just confusing each other. this waves was BAD. Imo the biggest reason why this show was the worst of the run. not to be 'that guy' but from a purely musical basis (ie playing the correct notes) they effed this song up bad not to mention its only a 7 or so minute waves and it was the second song of the second set. these days, thats usually a jam peak of the show, and im pretty sure they wanted it to be bethel-like but it fell short sooo bad. listen to the bethel sound check waves and you will never listen to this waves again.
Golden Age is getting boring...Golden Age SUX!
I don't understand why everyone gets so excited over this song. It is just so lame. The jam can be interesting, but I might be stretching the word "can" a bit too much!
Signed. Loved golden > waves
When the band does this they know what they're doing. Type2 clearly is not their only passion. Some shows are like 8/31 where jamming is clearly the focus. Others are like 12/29 where busting nuts all over the audience is the focus.
And yeh I also loved the opening segment of the second set.
I liked 12/29 a lot. It was a rock show. Boogie, Suzy, cavern, 46 daysi agree! and if you were at the show and didnt have fun then you're doing phish wrong

I enjoyed the short but sweet Rock and Roll, trey gets into machine gun mode and mike just lets loose.

you can't compare these shows and say one was the "worst"
i feel like it's more proper to say the "least" .....as in the -least- mindblowing ;-)
this run was so good
and while the second set wasn't what i really go for as far as song selection, everything they played they ripped apart. it was all just really really well played. so while i can understand some people for why they may not like it because of what they played that second set, i don't see how anybody could be disappointed in how they played. they just tore it up that night
i haven't listened back since the show, and while yes this was my least favorite night of the run, i was still excited by how well they were playing
