Also- im not even a Steelers fan, but you get people giving Ben Roesthlisberger shit for the rape thing all the time...he wasn'te even charged with anything. Ray Lewis was charged with MURDER. The guy is a piece of shit like Mike Vick

very interesting perspective. I partially agree, the first chick was proven to be crazy and a liar but the second chick was DEFINITELY raped by ben. his friends came the day after and took the video footage, the cop was a steelers fan taking pictures with him at the scene....despicable.

I agree with your stance on Vick. He did a terrible thing, he owned it and he did his time. He lost millions of dollars, lost the respect of NFL fans and human beings all across the country. He hit rock bottom and worked his way back.

I'm in no way a bleeding heart but I read his response to the judge as to why he was dogfighting in the first place and its the answer of a shitty person who got caught, not the answer of someone who really felt bad for his actions. Either way, I'm glad we can all agree that Ray Lewis a scumbag and very likely a murderer.

Again, im not trying to defend Michael Vick, but that statement you speak of was made at the time of the hearings/sentencing. If you asked him the same question today, 4-5 years later, he might give you a different response.

I'm sure he would - but I don't think that proves he's rehabilitated, I think he just now has a better understanding of what can get him in trouble and what will make his public image look like shit.

I mean he certainly lives an American dream....who else in the history of America has been offered two separate $100 million dollar contracts sandwiching a 2 year prison term for dogfighting?

bostonron I was having a conversation the other day with a friend about how athletes are perceived. I'm really tired and kind of annoyed this morning, so this may come off really bad.

As far as athletes and their personal lives, I couldn't care less. Positive and negatives. These guys are nothing more then race horses to me. They go out there, run around a little bit and score points. I really don't care if they killed someone drunk driving, beat their wife, work with disabled kids or hand out turkeys during the holidays. I want them to hit the field, court, ice or diamond on game day and perform. What they do when the lights go out isn't really any of my business.

With that said, Ray Lewis is a beats on the field. And I loved watching him over the last decade murder (hee hee) people on the field.

I get what you're saying...they're athletes, their personal lives have nothing to do with the game so you don't want to hear about it and I think most fans share your sentiment, that's why it pisses them off that someone like Ray Lewis, a super rich athlete with a great life, has to be involved in murdering people, because for most people, murder and rape can't really be ignored and now we need to weigh in on something unrelated to the game.

2. The other two men involved weren't found guilty of murder. The altercation began as a mutual fight and its possible the knife was used in self defense. We will never know.

3. Ray Lewis has turned his life around. He has generated millions for various charities, he's a motivational speaker that has held up this challenge so that others can learn from his mistakes and his success, and he's mastered his field. What more do you want? What's the better result, that he rot in jail for a crime that you can't prove he committed, and not be able to do these things for his community... or what actually happened? He could have easily laid low. He could have taken the money and ran, but he chose to turn the shittiest day of his life into a decade of positives. You hippies are always raving about positivity, there's a fat wad of it for you.

The purpose of the justice system is supposedly rehabilitation. There's no one on earth who can say that Ray Lewis isn't rehabiliated regardless of whether or not the punishment (which is on the state to secure) was proper. And not one person in this half-assed revenge hungry nation is qualified to make that judgement, because no one was there except for Ray and the other two. Thankfully, in this country, people are innocent until proven guilty- whether any of you like it or not. Plus I guarantee that if you f***ed up and killed a guy, you would without a doubt play your get-out-jail-free card if you had one.

So get your feet out of your mouth and bask in the glory that is Ray Lewis. There's only a game or two left for the greatest MLB in history.

People get away with murder and rape everyday. Sure, it pisses me off. But as we"speak", there is murder and rape happening multiple times over. I don't have the energy to devote to all the awful things happening in the universe. So I give these guys a pass and enjoy what they do on the field.

There is a much bigger issue here with how athletes are treated throughout their lives leading up the professional sports. Most of these guys have been untouchable growing up, probably leading to a feeling invincibility. They get to the pros, have millions of dollars and tons of free time. Like I said though, I don't have the time or energy to devote to caring what they do past the field.

It's one of the craziest things I've seen in sports to be honest with you, one player charging 71000 people up that much

plus its more for his teammates than anything- its a prestige thing for young players to line up next to Ray. Most of the guys we get on D were huge Ray Lewis fans when they were groing up. They expect him to do the dance, and they want him to do it. He's one of the best motivators in the league and the stupid dance is part of it oddly enough.

Seriously though...

I don't know what your first point has to do with anything.

As for the settlements, those are paid all of the time, to avoid civil lawsuits. As for the amount you've stated, "23million dollars", I'm not sure where you got that from. I did just a little bit of looking it up and the only figure I found was "At least 1 million dollars". Which makes a lot more sense. If you can afford it, and it will get you out of a long messy civil suit, that you may lose whether you actually did anything or not, you settle.

As for OJ, I think he was involved. The prosecution did a bad job, but don't forget, Simpson did lose the civil trial. Having said all that, it doesn't really matter what anyone thinks about O.J.

Having said all that, it doesn't really matter what anyone thinks about O.J.
pertaining to settlements- a guy like ray lewis could easily pay a million in legal fees alone if it drug on long enough. win or lose.
Pay a million dollars to have it all go away, or take a risk of losing several times that amount, while having your name dragged around in the press even more than it already was. Sounds like he made the right choice considering his image now a days.

It's not just about being able to easily pay whatever.
