There was some talk of having a .net meet-up for the Trey show next Friday, Jan 18. Let's do it. There was talk of perhaps dinner, Greek food on the Danforth. However, being as it's a weekday I feel like I would have trouble getting there early enough to enjoy dinner unhurriedly before the show. Plus, it's harder to organize. I think it would be better to just meet up at a bar, so people can show up whenever, order pub food if they want, etc. There's a place right next to the theatre (yeah, rocking the Canadian spelling yo) called Dora Keogh Irish Pub. How about we meet up there?
The ticket time is 8, so maybe it would start around 8:20, 8:30? I don't know what's standard for TAB as opposed to Phish. Maybe we could meet from 6:30pm on? Or 7?

Count me in! I love the idea of a TO meetup, even if there are only a few of us. Sounds like the pub you mention is as close as we can get to the venue. I won't be getting there until after 7pm, depending on where the Greyhound lets me off. It seems that they try to start close to the printed ticket time, so I'd be getting into the venue for 8pm. By the time we get past security and settle in, it will be showtime. (8:10-8:20pm). Now, we just have to think of a good .net identifier.. I have a pin, but it's pretty discrete. We could set up a sign at our table to interest others... stickers... something like that?

We can set up a little sign out of a folded piece of paper... I don't wanna stress about it beyond that.I got bigger worries trying to get Fedex to actually deliver the damn tickets lol.
It'll be fun, I'm sure the place will be full of heads anyway but at least we'll get to meet.

Just out of curiosity... do any of you know any Canadians who managed to get tickets in either the presale or public onsale? I don't.. hence the FedEx nonsense you're talking about @phishybanjo .

@johnnyd : Thanks, but we will pass and save you the trouble. Next time I visit B'lington I'll take back a whack and we'll be ready for future meetups with our vintage laminates! I seriously think it would cost something ridiculous like $60 for FedEx... I have received packages from USPS before but they're still expensive. I will give you my ridiculous postal code anyway just so you can look and see how stupid it would cost =)K9H 4R4

My brother and I wanted to go, but it's impossible to find tickets for face. I've never been so damn bothered by people who buy tickets just to resell them. Not only because people who genuinely want to see Trey are being screwed, but if by any chance they sell it for face right before the show, I'd still be giving them my money. I don't want to give them money. I want them to lose every penny they spent on the tickets they bought without any intentions to see the show, maybe then they'll reconsider buying the damn tickets in the first place.

@microdan : I hear ya! Like I mentioned earlier in the thread, I don't know of one single Canadian personally who was able to get tickets in the presale or public onsale. That is either a testament to American phans who are on the ball for ordering tickets, but I think you are right that it is not just traditional scalpers, but phans who get hold of tickets to resell, usually not at face value. It is a tough ticket because the venue is so small. Trey is trying to cultivate an audience here again so that Phish can come back and fill a reasonably sized venue (hopefully this summer!). It would be nice if some of those can-phans were actually at this show and not being shut out by other interests. I wish I could meet you at the show, but I understand your firm stance. Maybe you could make the meetup your party! And who knows, there might still be miracles out there...

If it's not far to travel and you feel like hanging out pre-show, definitely come out and we'll see what our little network can do to try and find you and your bro some tickets. Nothing like a team effort. I like the strategy of waiting outside the venue until a few songs in and getting a ticket for under face from a scalper. Satisfying, but still giving them money, as you point out. It'd be nice ta meetcha.

Holy crap you're organized!I'm not hugely optimistic about turnout, but on the other hand maybe we'll get some new people interested in .net, since I'm sure there's going to be a lot of people in that pub who are coming to the show.

Hiya Jed,How was your show? I was blown away by the band. Great first introduction to the TAB and the crowd was pumped!
I ended up driving after all, made it through some significant weather and rolled into the pub around 7:30. Milled about a bit, found my crew but didn't find you. All the tables were full, so I didn't set up shop inside, but instead hung out front trying to stay visible.. sorry to miss you! I found that folks were focused on pregame connections, so I didn't drum up alot of attention for the .net. Just went with the flow.
Trey sounded pretty encouraging when he said it's great to be back and see you VERY soon. I am pulling for a TO summer show! We'll try again then so see you there.
