Best Forbin's -> Mockingbird story

fishman4 Permalink
fishman4 So I came to the realization that I haven't heard enough Forbin's->Mockingbird stories aside from the more known ones (12/31/95, 12/1/95, 11/30/94, 10/31/96) etc. etc.

I recently watched this video and the story really intrigued me and it got me craving more stories from the mind of Trey.

So my question is do you know of any more lesser known or obscure shows that contain interesting Forbin's->Mockingbird stories?

spaced I wouldn't say anything from August '93 would qualify as "obscure," but 8/7/93 has some good narration. Plus the rest of the show is awesome, even by that month's standards.

Thunder 8/7/98 is worth checking out if you haven't. Very cool.

August 07, 1998

Walnut Creek Amphitheater, Raleigh, NC

Set 1: Water in the Sky, Drowned, Frankie Says, Stash, Brian and Robert, Foam, Bittersweet Motel, Ghost, Colonel Forbin's Ascent > Fly Famous Mockingbird[1]

Set 2: Chalk Dust Torture > Mike's Song > Simple > Albuquerque > Limb By Limb, Wading in the Velvet Sea, Weekapaug Groove

Encore: Funky Bitch

[1] Narration offered an explanation for the evening's lunar eclipse.

Notes: The long, surreal Mockingbird narration offered an “explanation” for the evening’s lunar eclipse. Mockingbird was played for the first time since Halloween, 1996 (135 shows).

And my first show!

St. Andrew's Hall, Detroit, MI

Set 1: Llama, Foam, Reba, My Mind's Got a Mind of its Own, Maze, Tela > Brother, Colonel Forbin's Ascent > Fly Famous Mockingbird, Sparkle, Cavern

Encore: Carolina[4], Good Times Bad Times

[1] Brady Bunch theme and Flash Light teases from Mike; Frito Bandito quote in vocal jam.
[2] A cappella. Ended with quote of Magic (Pilot).
[3] Cold as Ice tease from Page in intro.
[4] Without microphones.

Notes: My Sweet One was preceded by a brief jam before the song proper started. YEM contained Brady Bunch theme and Flash Light teases from Mike. Shaggy Dog (first since November 3, 1988, or 449 shows) was performed a cappella and emerged from the YEM vocal jam. The YEM vocal jam also contained quotes of the Frito Bandito jingle and Shaggy Dog ended in a quote of Magic (Pilot). Page teased Cold As Ice both before and during the intro to Chalk Dust. Carolina was performed without microphones.

Sometimes your first really is the best...
We had absolutely no idea what this maniac was talking about. and talking about. It's one of those nights, when I get around to re-listening to it, that was so special because we were so naive and clueless. 22 years later, and still upside down.
