Having a sleeping angel baby on your lap doesn't help you when you are reluctant to get out of bed.

I hope everyone has a great day on this day.

I've been having a lot of really vivid, interesting dreams lately. And more phish dreams than usual. Two nights ago I heard them play a re-interpretation of Bowie that rocked. About a week before that, it was 20 Years Later verses -> Squirming Coil chorus. Which worked.

Still debating with Em how much $$$ we will donate for the raffle/auction.

BTW, here's how friggin' AWESOME @barefootbob was, is, and ever shall be: He was a great friend who suffered far too much and left us way too early. I knew that going to his funeral mass was going to be difficult for me emotionally. But the light and power of Bob's kind and truly good nature is SO POWERFUL, that I've been happier the past few days since his passing than I have been in months. He finally not suffering anymore. For that, I am very grateful.

But I feel even more blessed from just having known him for a short while on this planet. I mean, really. Blessed.

So I'm happy today :D

Good weekend. Nice combo of kid stuff and getting stuff done.

Plus, made the best pork ribs I've ever made yesterday. Tried something a bit new and I'll always make them this way (until I find a newer best way).

I seasoned the rack simply (garlic salt/black pepper). Cut them up and into the dutch oven (:in before fart jokes :) . I then boiled them for about an hour in a broth of white vinegar/water (about a 50/50 split - maybe a little heavy on the vinegar) and a splash of white cooking wine. Also in the broth was a chopped onion, orange(!) pepper (my wife DNL green) and a shit-ton of garlic.

After an hour, out they came - and into a baking dish. Slather with BBQ sauce, cover with foil, and into the oven (325) for another hour. Flipped and basted every 20 minutes.

Wow. They turned out really good.

Suggestions/modifications for next time?

Car companies should just use the "$" sign as their "check engine" symbol. At least it would be honest.

Pretty great weekend. Took a day trip with the lady on Saturday. Our day trips usually consist of each of picking one place we each want to go in one general area, and going to both. The lady picked the Wizard of Clay, which is this incredible local place that makes some of the best pottery I've ever seen. And I picked a tour of the Naked Dove Brewery in Canandaigua, NY, which is a very small but pretty solid little brewery. They make a great porter they call 45 Fathoms Porter, and I picked up a growler.

Sunday, watched football and grilled some steaks. Good day.

Hope everybody has a good start to their week!

I'm feeling pretty good today. I've been back on a more regular exercise schedule now for a little over a week. It's crazy how that helps lift the spirit.

Spent some time with an old friend Saturday night. He and I split an organic pig that was raised by a farmer friend of ours. He was in the area for a family thing and to pick up his pork. Had fun reminiscing about all of the shenanigans we'd gotten into years ago. He went to a few Phish concerts with Mary and I but never really enjoyed the music side of it.

Or a cup of strawberries is a block. 1oz of meat is a block ETC...I am supposed to eat 15 blocks a day for my height, age and physical activity level. But organic free range protein not much starch or dairy no sugar at all and plenty of veggies and raw nuts. Paleo is the paleolithic diet where you eat like a caveman. No dairy no potatoes no rice no bread no sugar. So a combination is really needed because who wants to live like that. She has two cheat days per week where she has whatever she wants within reason.

Its an amazing amount of food I am supposed to eat daily.
