I'll have fun not hanging out near you guys.
Anyone ever done their Bachelor Party around a Phish show/weekend? Almost all my friends think I'm crazy to see phish as much as I do (and that's only a few shows a year)... and I've been trying to get them to come with me FOREVER. I figured that combining the bachelor party with a Phish show would be a great way to force them to see what it's all about. Figured the first night we could hit up all the usual bachelor party stuff... then tailgate all day Saturday and see Phish that night. Seems easy... but I'm sure there are some things that I'm not thinking about. Just seeing if anyone has ever successfully done this.I went to a bachelor party last year at phish... 3 nights of dicks! Well, i was going to the concerts anyway, I didnt know the bachelor but I knew his buds--went to dicks with them the year before too.
All i know is ... they all wanted to be there and knew what it was about.
I think if you're the groom you should do whatever the f*** you want for your party-- but it's also sort of the best man's job to take care of all that crap. 2cents
I've done bachelor parties centered around going to other shows, though, and had a blast. My recommendation is to find a city within 4 hours that has a show you'd like to catch on Friday and one on Saturday, and go for the weekend. My suggestion is to do that as often as possible, for a bachelor party or not.
I can get some details on how the not-phish fans felt about it. My buddy had a great time. He's into some decent music but never been to phish before.
It also sounded like a drunken shit show (in kind of a good way, but some of the negatives that go along with it). So its very good they had their own box. @TwiceBitten raises a very valid point. I personally wouldnt do this unless well more than half of the guests are really into phish. Need the critical mass.
One of my friends was an attendee at one of these on 12.29. 12 dudes scored one of those luxury suites. The groom and like 3 or 4 others are huge into phish, the rest of the guys were along for the ride. It's not that these are terrible people.... they all know that Phish is my favorite thing in the world and want to experience that with me. We'll have the ridiculous blow out the night before (not at a show)... and the Phish night would probably be more or less me explaining Phish and why they are so great. Agreed that I would assume that of most people... but these guys aren't going to be throwing glowsticks at the band, vomiting on your wives, and talking throughout the set.

@willed11, I did this last year for my bachelor party at the AC shows and it worked out great. We rented a house, stocked up, and hit the road. We mixed in a high stakes round of golf, awesome meals, strippers, and limo service to the shows. About half of my friends were into Phish and the other half had never seen them. Only us die hard fans stuck around for the Sunday show but everyone still talks about how great a weekend it was.Awesome news... I'm really hoping that they play a city that has gambling or something (or lots of hotels/house rentals). I don't think I could convince this group to come to Alpine or the Gorge for my Bachelor Party. San Fran, NOLA, Vegas, New York, Chicago, etc... now that's a different story. Thanks for the suggestion... the house rental sounds like a great idea... and a round of high stakes golf? Forgetabout-it.

I am hoping the weekend before is the festival. Most of my closest friends are fans, so this is something completely feasible.
Also, the wedding is in Vermont, just south of Burlington. I am hoping to get one of the members to make an appearance if they are not on tour at that time. But it probably won't happen. My luck.
@WillEd11 said:NO NO... just trying to back them up a little bit cause I know we all hate those people anyway. Thanks for the congrats @standarsh! We just set the date yesterday. October 19, 2013 will be the day... so I'm thinking that I'll have 2 full legs of summer tour to choose from. Hope they pick some good cities this summer (ones that we can actually fly to). Living in Dallas really doesn't help the cause. Wedding will be in Ft. Worth. It's not that these are terrible people....Certainly did not mean to imply that.
