Light, every time I saw it this summer a sick jam ensued and I loved it. The song has really been carrying the torch for 3.0 jamming and it gets better every time. As far as other songs that I saw a lot this summer, has to be Tube. That song seemed to appear at every single show or multi-night run I went to and I saw some sick versions. Tube is great every time. Those are definitely my Phish songs of 2012.

ivy_light 2012 was the year of Mike's Groove for @TheEmu and I. We saw 7 shows this summer at 4 different venues (Portsmouth, Burgettstown, SPAC, and Charlotte. We got a Mike's > sumpthin' > sumpthin' > Groove at each of those 4 venues.
Score: 3

ledzepmaster Well out of the three shows and two venues I went to this year and after having not seen this song prior to this year, for me, it is Maze

The two versions I saw this year had tremendous amounts of energy and absolutely tickled my fancy.
Score: 1

PricklyHairs Permalink
PricklyHairs Fluffhead because I finally got one (at nearly my 50th show) on 12/28.

It was GLORIOUS!

Savorybeef I'd have to say SAND. The version from Worchester got 2012 Phish jump started.

patper I saw My Friend My Friend three times in nine shows this year, and I lost it every time. I LOVE that song!
Score: 3

kipmat Permalink
kipmat My criteria for song of the year is one where every version performed that year is worth hearing. For 2012, I'll say Crosseyed & Painless. BGCA3 was the best of the bunch, but AC, Alpine, and Charlotte all get repeated listens from me. Honorable mentions go to Sand, Sally, Tweezer, and Light, which might've won if not for the Bonnaroo debacle.

2011 - Rock and Roll
2010 - Light
2009 - TTE DWD

Except for Portsmouth that was a Mike's > Hyrdogen > Groove. Though there were a lot of diversified Mike's Grooves. Mike's > Makisupa, Mike's McGrupp, Mike's > No Quarter, and Mike's > Walk Away among others mentioned. I like that its become a spring board into surprising song selections. I loved Mike's > Contact > Groove at SPAC as Contact is one of my favorite Gordo tunes and my car got towed at Bethel so it was a real treat to hear.

Dude that is ridiculous, I've only seen 16 shows and I've caught 2 Fluffheads. It's crazy how those stats work out sometimes.

MaybeSo_MaybeNot Moma. Boogie On - what Mike does with that bass amazes me. I saw him describe it and all, but man I love it.
Wait, do I have to pick just one?

My Fluffhead stat - by show #4 I got 2. That rocks. Perhaps I will get a Meatstick this year....still waiting. (no pun intended, got one of those too)

Twist. Foam. Free. This isn't fair.

Also loved the first ever Mike's Song> Tweezer at Charlotte this past summer.

For me, it was bug, got my 6th one I think and two this year. The timing of bug during the show seems to hit the spot every time they play it for me. Next I would have to say while my guitar gently weeps (1st one, oak mnt, awesome show, awesome 1st set closer). I can't leave out lizards, maze, mcgrupp, tmwsiy, skin it back, happiness is a warm gun (all 1st's this year)
