5/7/94 (34%) vs. 12/6/97 (66%)
11/2/94 (32%) vs. 12/14/95 (68%)
12/2/95 (62.8%) vs. 11/23/94 (37.2%)
11/28/94 (56.8%) vs. 10/30/98 (43.2%)
12.2 vs 12.6?
Tough. Call.
It's looking like 12.6 will run away with that bracket. 12.2 is up on '94.Yeah, it's looking like 12/6/97 vs. 12/2/95 in the championship. I'd go with 12/6/97.

I know I am going to get chewed out for asking but I have to. I know everyone's taste is different but what is it about these two versions that everyone enjoys so much? I always enjoy comparing versions of different songs but I often find I never agree with the standard GOAT jams. So I just wanted to get a sense of what I might be missing.
12 6 97 is cool but I find myself waiting for something to happen and never does. its like an itch you want scratched. I could see myself enjoying this by putting it on as background music when I am doing something else or hanging with friends but it could never keep my attention.
12 2 95 . I like a lot better just my opinion. I can also see why many dig this since its so high energy but when you really listen to it compared to many other Tweezers it just seems a like Trey is doing most of his generic licks without much phrasing. The drumbs really change the mood but i personally don't like the tempo with the song. Gordon really does nothing in this that blows me away and i really prefer page on the Clav on tweezer's as it compliments the electro feel.
Now before you guys come raging on me remember this is a discussion board and that's all I am trying to do is discuss and get other peoples perspective. Personally I feel that most of them are twice the musicians today than they were ten years ago. Their ideas are just so much more rich.

Just to get an idea of where you're coming from, what would be your top Tweezers, or just top jams in general? If 12/6/97 doesn't hold your attention, I'm genuinely curious as to what floats your boat improv-wise.

not the longest or anything but it is just so bad ass and nasty. But then again those version are way more popular than this one so I must be the odd man out. To each their own. Long live Phish
@Dogossj2i think my favorite today is from 8 12 2011. Mainly for the brilliant way the band enters the Jam. As Trey pumps soaring notes the band is so tight and funky behind him, answering almost every phrase perfectly. Trey on top of this makes it melodic but at the same time so gnarly and ugly it becomes beautiful towards the end. From 5:00 to to 6 40 is brilliant just for setting the stage and then at the peak at 900 he brings up lets it trickle down, brings it up again making his guitar sound like a Wild horse screaming and then answers it with the perfect phrase.

12/6/97 isnt even the best Tweezer from Fall 97i agree with your premise that it is a touch overrated, but i definitely think it's the best from fall '97.
12.6.97 Tweezer is sooooo overrated.
You know what I've learned from this thread? Every great jam by this band is totally overrated. God, why do I even listen to this band?
Thanks for doing this, @westbrook. It was fun participating, even if I'm a tad disappointed 12/14/95 didn't win.I think it was a success. I'm thinking we can do a Ghost bracket next with 16 versions. Hopefully that way more people will be familiar with every version and we can get some more votes and avoid the problem @slothberries mentioned. So, look for the Ghost bracket coming soon.

11/17/97? Overrated.
9/12/99? Overrated.
5/22/00? Overrated.

Should we page @LawnMemo, perhaps?
I would like to stump for the 12/11/99 Ghost to be included.Sign'd. Can't believe I omitted that. 12/11/99 is one of my favorite shows.
One other thing I'd like to do is to have links to download the various versions, so we can at least encourage people not to vote against versions they haven't heard yet. This might work better as its own webpage instead of using the automatic bracket generator sites. It would be a bit more work, but it would also allow us more flexibility; we could do writeups describing the matchups, etc. Just a thought.
The bracket website I used for Tweezer does allow for adding descriptions and video/audio.Oh, cool. That takes care of that.
@westbrook said:We can put audio/video links within the thread for people to check out, which I think is very manageable with a 16 or even 32-Ghost field. It seems we have at least 3 people here who'd be willing/would like to help with this. We could have people do short write-ups of the Ghosts or the match-ups with audio/video links. The bracket website I used for Tweezer does allow for adding descriptions and video/audio.Oh, cool. If @westbrook, @spaced and @LawnMemo want to really tackle this, why don't we exchange emails via PM and get an email chain going to flesh this out, rather than over a Tweezer thread. I get weak in the knees for a good Ghost and am so down to help with this.
