Even if we want to be suprised by details and the rest of the tour dates and events, is there anyone that would not benefit from knowing as soon as possible at least when a festival might be?
I mean, also, its just a courtesy at this point. Announcing Superball for a holiday weekend just a couple months in advance was kind of a dick move, imo. For me, and many others I know, it was kind of a yank (but of course totally worth it) to make it happen. And how many people simply couldnt go because they had committed to something else by the time the announcement came around. Internships, jobs, family reunions and events, weddings...we put it all in limbo or have to work around.
So what are the tools we have to be heard? twitter, facebook, etc. Electronically nag them til its too annoying to be ignored? Involve other fangroups - PT, TT, PP, everyone.
If this is a horrible idea, vote it down or express as much below.
If not, we need people that are saavy with social media, communications, marketing, and messaging. Help me brainstorm. Come up with a hashtag. Make some memes. Do facebook groups even do anything? Who knows? I dont. We need the collective power of us, the threadboarders.
We can do this. (Doubtful there will be results, but we can certainly do it and have some fun.)
who's with me? I'm streaking the quad...
whereas, it is a major commitment to plan for and travel to a festival;Just spitballin here. I haven't done one of those since high school. The format may be off. But you get the point.
whereas, the sooner you tell us, the greater attendance will be;
whereas, an earlier announcement greatly reduces multiple sources of stress - financially, professionally, and with regards to family;
whereas, we know damn well that you know damn well when and where its going to be;
whereas, if you don't, you'd better get on that shit;
be it resolved that: we the fans request that you, the band and management, inform us post-haste when the festival will be.

this. and i think they know this. im sure way more goes into planning a fest than any of us could imagine. im sure they will let us know as soon as they can. it is not in their best interest financially to wait it out for anticipation reasons.

Let's plan this f***ing Garden Party.
I call Vegas Memorial Day weekend
Edit: venue-Las Vegas Motor Speedway, it's a festi so they'll need to book a ferris wheel
If you build it...
But perhaps a little aggressive in terms of scope...anyone got a closed airport hook-up? Or a thousand flat-ish acres next to a couple interstate exits?
::makes a "Please announce tour schedule early for everyone's convenience" sign and holds it up throughout the show::Instead of Fluffhead signs at sporting events, we could switch to..
Hey, Phish!!
When's
the
Festival?
All I really want to know is what's the progress is on the huge air mattress so we can finally jump off the ferris wheel.I was looking for it at AC....noting in sight...but that wasnt a fest...so i guess Trey was just speaking of the next fest...
it would be cool if they just set up a giant trampoline and when you jump from the Ferris wheel you bounce back up to your seat

TIME IS RUNNING OUT!!!
I for one am waiting to hear if it'll be somewhere I can swing it, so all other vacation plans are on hold! I want to do other things as well, but if they are going to have a festival 10 (and you know they will), that will take 99% of my spare cash to do it right, so I am kinda on hold right now.
I expect that to continue another couple months, too, which is going to be tough. I need to find a way to make more money so this won't be such a big deal!!

We need to shorten ^^^that^^^ up.
Edit: actually that is 108 characters, so technically i guess we have 32 more to play with.
Can I ask why we are assuming that there will even be a festival? Did i miss Phish saying that there would be such an event in 2013?As we have decided so it shall be
Duh
Also, CK5 at one of the summer fests, had a q and a and more or less said so. Not explicitly, but something to the effect of "expect a big year with lot of touring and events" or something like that. Of course, this was before he got on board with the Beibs, so maybe phish is cancelling some plans to accomodate that.
Or hey, if there is no fest in the works, thats fine too. Just say so, so we can all free up what is currently a mystery date cant miss weekend.

just twitled it...
Holds sign in Albany that says on back " on the front my sign is asking for Festy dates" Front " WTF Trey tell us the f'n festy dates already"winner.
Like, one side could be all polite and logical.
The other side could be snarky.

@SlothberriesBecause it is fun to make an ass out of u and me!cool. thanks. I figured someone from the band must have mentioned it at some point with the way that everyone is so "matter of fact" about it 'round here

Seriously! SO inconsiderate that they don't just TELL US ALREADY! I mean, we're already halfway through JANUARY NOW!Sorry I'm not sorry I have a life and have to plan ahead...
TIME IS RUNNING OUT!!!
I think the economy has recovered enough, and I think it will be worth their while to have one this year.
"whereas, a lot of us are old and actually need to schedule time off from our jobs well in advance of the dates;"
Good stuff, @Pibbs.
Phestdates is a clear leader.
I think a facebook group that we could get .nettets to like or be a part of would really help. Maybe #Phestdates is good and catchydid you make this FB page and is it public where i can view without an account?
Would love to know the dates. i just hope it is in the NE/mid Atlantic (odds are it will be) and not the weekend of 7/19-7/21!
Maybe we could do it the old fashioned way and try some snail mail. Is there an address for fanmail or something that we could just send an overwhelming amount of letters to? We could have everybody send out the letters on the same day so there would just be thousands of letters received over the course of a few days all asking the same question. Not sure if this is a good/realistic idea or whatever. Just baked and brainstorming.Poor Betty Frost...

did any of those shows sell out? maybe they could've sold more tickets if they would've given the fans with jobs more notice. you know...the ones that actually have money. ok, trustafarians have money too, but that's another thread.
Sure-Let's pester them until they are sick of us!Point taken.

But let me make clear that I really mean this in good fun and good humor - something that on the off chance that anyone that matters sees it, they would get a chuckle out of it. (While it simultaneously conveys a point.)
And personally, patience, delayed gratification, and the quality called "emotional intelligence" are among my very strong suits. This endeavor is not borne out of impatience or impetuosness, but rather the desire to adequately and responsibly schedule for what I'm considering the biggest event of the year.
Anyone who hasn't hit that phase in life where you are going to 7 weddings a summer might not quite get this yet. I remember. This was not a big deal at all when I was 23. But time fills up. Not saying that is good or bad. But generally it does.
