I really need to get that book. A friend told me about it a few years ago, but I never picked it up. Really interesting stuff.

I read that book a few years ago. It's really awesome. Daniel J. Levitin (the author) spoke at my University to a small group of students last year. I found out he was here 20 minutes before his lecture and I skipped class to go listen. The research he is currently conducting is attempting to define characteristics of music that we find moving or emotional, and he is getting really solid and consistent results. It was incredibly interesting. He also said there's probably going to be an in depth book on the subject coming sometime, so keep your eyes pealed!

Just got that book for Christmas...guess I better start on it. My cousin, who's a doctor and spends a little time playing around with a guitar actually recommended it to me, and knowing him, I'd have to agree with Mr. Jones above...I expect it to get pretty technical at points.
