Merging Sets - iTunes

Sativar Permalink
Sativar Hey everyone! I'm trying to find an easy way to merge multiple sets into one continuous album in iTunes.

LivePhish commonly splits shows into sets, and I am not a big fan of this. When I select all songs of a show and simply change the album name, I get the first songs of each set, second songs of each set, etc. I'm sure that I can play with the track numbers, but that will be an extremely tedious task given the volume of Phish in my library.

Has anyone had any success in accomplishing my objective and care to share?

Thanks in advance!

Furry_Thug Select (highlight) all songs in the show
right click and select 'get info'
change 'album' tag (just remove set I or set II)

edit: sorry, I completely spaced on half of your post. The MAIN problem. Yeah, I haven't figured that out either.

That's weird - when I change the album name all of the songs stay in the same order. I would try re-adding your songs.

I agree with you though, I like to keep all if my shows in tact under one name. I prefer the syntax yyyy-mm-dd "venue name"

Bring on the iTunes sucks comments...

MomaDan ^yup. Easy fix. Now when you transfer everything over to a harddrive and it decides to duplicate almost every song, then it gets tricky. Thats what I get for accidently wiping my flash drive

Alternative would be to make all of the set one songs as "disc 1" set II disk 2 etc, although my iTunes does this for me already

Sativar Labeling set 1 as disk 1, set 2 as disk 2, etc seems to have worked. Tedious still, but better than going through each and every song.

Still taking advice on any easier methods.

Sativar Well, it worked when the sets didn't already have disk #'s. I had the Fuji show in two different sets, but it was already labelled with disk #'s, so I could have simply changed the album name and everything would have been fine. Disk 2 & 3 were in set II, so when I changed all of set II to disk 2, it gave me the original problem.

sectaur 1. Highlight all tracks on set one album.
2. Change total track number to actual total and disc number to "1".
3. Select first track, using the "next" button to change track numbers so they're sequential(1-?)
4. Repeat for second set(make this disc 2)
5. Highlight both "albums", highlight all tracks, change album title to your desired format. I use YYYY-MM-DD: City, State.

frankzappasmustache2012 Yeah it just takes forever. I took a day and did this with all the phish on my ipod and it was incredibly tedious. Now I just plan on changing it as soon as I download the show so I won't have to end up doing a shit ton of shows all at one time again.

spanishmoon I have experienced this. I don't know why but sometimes I change the info and nothing happens. I either have to leave the page and reopen it, or scroll down and back up. Either way I have to leave the the page and come back to it and everything is good, sometimes this works. Good luck. If you have itunes 11, uninstall and reinstall itunes 10

This. I do it each time I import a new album. All downloads from the nugs.net DB are set up this way, so yes it's tedious. I like to use the keyboard shortcuts for "next" (command-n) and tab/shift-tab to go between the various fields.
