Favorite Dead Albums

mattsox94 Permalink
mattsox94 What are some of everyone's favorite Grateful Dead studio albums? I found all of my Dad's old vinyls and just started listening. I am really digging Wake of the Flood and Shakedown Street. What about everyone else?

DanceTheJig728 Permalink
DanceTheJig728 I have always loved their first one so much, despite it being mostly covers. Can't go wrong with American Beauty and Workingmans Dead as well
Score: 4

_________________________ I like Terrapin Station, especially the title track, but the CLASSICS are American Beauty and Workingman's Dead
Score: 2

Abe_Froman Permalink
Abe_Froman Anthem of the Sun and American Beauty for me. My favorite era of GD, and the two albums show the wide open exploration and down home-ness I love about the Dead.
Score: 0

Bozo3 Permalink
Bozo3 wake of the flood is excellent, this is my go to album when coming down - im a big fan of blues for allah as well
Score: 0

23piper Permalink
23piper The best: Aoxomoxoa, Anthem of the Sun, American Beauty, Working Man's Dead, Wake of the Flood, and Blues for Allah.

Best of the Rest: Mars Hotel, Terrapin Station

What's Left: Shakedown Street, Go to Heaven, In the Dark, Built to Last.

Each of the ones in the last category have something of interest in them and have the GD stamp of being full of hidden gems revealed only to those with ears to listen.

Mr_Miner I listened to wake of the flood yesterday. That and mars hotel are my two favorites. I would throw Garcia in there too. Not officially a GD album, most of the songs were in heavy GD rotation.
