Morning all. Cold and snowy here. Not much else going on.Yeah, I thought of that too..hmmm. It somehow makes me feel more 'safe'. Maybe I should just take karate.

See if there is a place that does this.

Of course properly implementing that solution comes with a whole suite of additional responsibilities and definitely isn't for everyone.

It's been a little while since I've posted and since I've been so busy, I haven't even had time to lurk. I hope all is well on the interwebs.
My grad school apps are due on Feb. 1st so I've been working on those. Hopefully I can get accepted and start working towards my graduate degree this fall. That means one more crazy summer and then I need to grow up and get my shit together.....kidding.
It's 15 degrees in Oh High Ya today and that makes me really miss summer. How long before summer tour starts??

@JimmyMac03 Sounds like you did the right thing letting her go with her girlfriends..If you feel awkward/uncomfortable about it, no need to put yourself in that situation...But I think that's cool that you guys are still amicable...good for you guys..

Pretty soon Queens will be "cool"never gunna happen. we had a brewery open 2 blocks from us a month or so ago, people from brooklyn are still too cool to make it here.
@forbin1 when i first moved to clinton hill it was pretty ghetto. now it's just as expensive fancy and gentrified as park slope
Pretty soon Queens will be "cool"Astoria has been cool for years. As for Bushwick... not even @BushwickBill lives there anymore.
@forbin1 it isn't easy but we are trying are best. We don't have millions to fight over so... just trying to be fair and equal and supportive despite all the hurt.
Hope everyone has a great short week!
@Ednaz - good luck with the dog safety. Question: did you let out one of those fake kung-fu shouts when you kicked Harpua? 'Cause that would be awesome.
/has enough time passed? Can we joke about this now?
Hahahahaha..yes, @mfhgreyboy, plenty of time has passed..
Oom Pah Pah, Oom Pah Pah, Oom Pah Pah, Oom Pah Paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

on ice free trails in early Feb and never lost them to snow again. CT is weird.
Not being able to be online all the time already sucks ass.I had to shave on Saturday as I thought we were going to be having company, plans fell through and now I'm forced to shave either tonight or in the morning. Luckily, I won't have to shave for the rest of the week.

I haven't gone more than three or four days without shaving since I started growing facial hair. I'm curious if I can grow a decent beard (probably not) but I don't know if I can deal with looking like a lazy slob while it fills in. I need a couple of months away from daily activities where I'm judged on my appearance. Those are the parts you have to push on through. Just after it can no longer be considered stubble it gets to an incredibly itchy phase, that's the part I hate.
@chris200w said:Good to know. I'm mostly concerned with bare spots on my cheeks. OK, I'm off to do some dinner prep and get the kids set up with their homework.
Or that won't take half the time I think it will and I'll be back in ten. I need to find a tasty jam to chop veggies to, I'm stuck in two different years, 93 and 97. Listened to Umphrey's all weekend, I have to move back to Phish.
First day back at work after my winter break. I got sent to a new job......one where I had no idea what the conditions were. Was I going to be outside? inside? inside with no heat? To cover all of my bases, i dressed extremely warm with lots of layers. You can always take layers off, but you cant pull layers out of thin air.
So of course, my first assignment is a little bit of lighting in a steam room. Gotta run the pipe, mount the fixtures, pull the wire, splice the wire, etc, etc. Of course its 9000 degrees in this steam room. By 9 AM i was sweating my ass off.
So what do i do? I start taking off layers. I took everything off but one T-shirt (yes, my pants were still on). So now im a little bit cooler, but still sweating my ass off. No problem...it comes with the territory. Besides, I like to sweat. Its good for you.
Anyway....im mounting fixtures in the ceiling and its hotter than hell up there. It must be 40 degrees hotter on the top of the ladder than it is on the bottom of the ladder. Thats because the ceiling is littered with steam pipes. Theyre everywhere and theyre also in my way. I had to make a splice and the only way i could reach the splice box was if I set my ladder up in between two of the pipes. At this point, all I want to do is get done and get the hell out of this room. my brain is mush, i cant breathe...i just want out. So I started to rush.
big mistake. Can you guess what happened?
Im just going to tell you what happened. My forearm touched one of the steam pipes. OWWWWWW. I just burned the shit out of my arm. Without thinking, I recoiled...trying to get away from the pipe. Guess what happened. My other forearm hit the other steam pipe. Now i have TWO mother f***ing burns...one on each forearm. and its all because I am an idiot. I should have known to keep a long sleeve shirt on. ive been in these situations before.....and I always make sure my arms are protected. I guess i just wasnt thinking. maybe it was the heat, maybe it was because it was my first day back and I wasnt in "work mode" yet. either way, i stripped down without thinking and it cost me.
But I think Im ok. The burn marks are like 2 inch circles on each arm. They burned for a couple of hours, but i dont even feel it anymore. Im gonna have marks for a week, but it looks like i dodged a major bullet.
Welcome back, Vin!!!!!
Enjoy that beard, it's like a hug for your face.Try out the great went Tweezer

Ouch, @Slothberries. You were at the top of a ladder when this happened? That could have made things much worse in a real hurry. Glad you're okay man. Thanks, Chris.
I wasnt at the tippy top of the ladder, if thats what youre asking. 2 steps from the top step. but yeah, i could have easily fallen off and broken every bone in my body.
Take care of yourself, man. Get some moisturizer with aloe. More than one use, ya know?
