A family friend of mine manages the company that provides the pre-set up tent packages for big festivals like superball/bonaroo/electric forest.
This friend's company was contracted in 2011 for Superball IX. For superball, the pre set up tents were called "glen close camping". My friend's company has been contacted once again to provide the pre-set up tents for Phish Festival x.
According to my friend...Festival X will be in August , not july. When exactly in August, I dont know.
That is all.
An august festy would make sense with all of these charter one chicago dates rumored for mid july- ish.
I have not had the luxury of catching the past two festivals in 3.0 because they, IMO, were held at inconvenient times. Those of us with families had a hard time making it to superball because the fourth is a big family holiday, and Halloween on the west coast was a financial and logistical nightmare for some east coasters like myself.
A mid-late August festival will allow me to finally attend my firsT festival, and they say you always remember the firsts in life. Here's hoping! I would bet attendance would be a good bit higher too.

Really hope this is not true... with the rumored west coast tour starting Aug 16-17 at the Gorge and the rumored Chicago dates in late July, it just wouldn't make any sense to go to the fest from the western half of the country.

the Pocono raceway is also only booked from 8/2 to 8/4 in August....
Early rumors did mention that the fest would be held at this type of venue in the North East Region....(I know that Pocono Raceway is considered Mid Atlantic, so there is a good chance that is not the location)...
what other speedways are open in August that could host this type of event?
New Hampshire Motor Speedway is booked for 3 of the 5 weekends, so i would think that is out...8/3, 8/17, 8/24
Stanford Speedway, CT is booked every weekend in August
August is the perfect time
Really hoping for August.
thinking logically, especially considering the general location of most of their fan base, i would be very surprised it if was not in either NY, VT, or ME. id much rather it be in July than August but that's just for personal reasons. either way, were getting close!! i think its time to start getting excited! Superball snuck right up on me. Hopefully this will too!
I still think watkins as the report from the director just seemed phishy. my sources still say watkins...I was thinking about this over the weekend. Didn't the WG director get himself in trouble last year for confirming SBIX too early? Couldn't his statement about this summer be an overreaction to the heat he caught last year?
/I have no sources

I really hope they do it somewhere in Maine. Oxford Plains Speedway isn't booked in August! The dead did a 'fest' there in 88 with on site camping, I heard they did 200K in 2 days. New casino just up the road!Didn't they have a fest near there a few years ago? Nateeva? A bunch of my friends went to that fest and had a blast. It's a very real possibility.

@gskatz said:The festival was a huge flop. They tried to hold it gain the next year, tickets went on sale, and a few months later canceled it. If I remember correctly it was a combination of poor ticket sales, and permit and legal issues with the town. I remember leading up to and during the first one the huge police build up. Tons of arrests, undercovers, and festival security taking advantage of the scene to bring in money. There is not enough onsite camping so they had to have remote camping sites and parking. My first impression was a money grab for everyone involved in running the place.I really hope they do it somewhere in Maine. Oxford Plains Speedway isn't booked in August! School starts in august, and skipping a couple classes is not an option at this point. :feelsbadman:

Yeah the director gave it away last year. he s going to deny ten fold right? thus giving us the clue..... flip flops are for summer......or maybe that's just what he wants you to think, man.
