What Dead Lots Were REALLY Like

MJZ1974 Permalink
MJZ1974 This is hilarious.

Want to know what the Dead lots were really like? It doesn't get more real than this.

Looks like somebody set a camera on a tripod and just let 'er rip. No fuss...no muss. I guess if you were sitting in the front seat of your VW bus at Irvine Meadows in '88 and staring out the front window, this is exactly what you would see.

The freak show is worth it alone.

MJZ1974 I think I see a cameo of Lemmy at 1:03 of the 3rd video. Ha Ha

I also forgot how many random "tour dogs" would just walk the aisles without leashes or owners. Like they knew the drill.

Midcoaster Love the Super 8 '84, man; that's what I'm talking about! Sure miss those old school Shakedowns, though Blossom was pretty cool this past summer. Brought back some good memories.

I'll never forget that Niagara show. Everyone partying on the roof. Strange venue with bad acoustics and riser in the back. The energy of the crowd was off the charts. I made it up front very close for second set. One of my favorite second sets of '84.

BernardShakey I love it! In my mind, listening to the music the scene always looks like Veneta Oregon 1972, Or the Fillmore east late sixties.

AnalogKid Great post. Thanks.

Foxboro '90 stands out as the craziest for me. Hanging out with a friend that just kept buying everything that came our way and feeding it to everyone in our group. Walking around that lot was like walking through different worlds. Every turn brought something new. Dozens of bands playing, food, beer, whatever you wanted all you had to do was reach out and it was there. There were so many vendors that the Shakedown was more like an outdoor mall. Phish lot scenes are great, but man, the Dead lots were crazy.

RFK lot was always crazy. Albany was always a gas too.

Once they figured out where to put us it was great. Albany was a great lot for them and it was SO damn intense, like a movie, 'IT CAME FROM UNDER THE BRIDGES'
