I'm sure this has been answered and asked before, but I am new here so my curiosity overwhelms me haha.
Are any of you here people that listen to just Phish and no other jam bands? I listen to the dead and the Allman brothers so i guest i dont count, but im much more fanatical in my phish jammage then those others.
But i mean i started out on punk and metal before prog jam and jazz so i guess im an oddball in some forms.
Plus I hear some people only listen to Phish, and nothing else! Phish is my favorite band BUT HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE!!!!

I've seen moe., bisco, strangefolk, lotus, sts9, wsp, blues traveler, rusted root (going way backwards) and then innumerable 3rd tier jambands lots of times between say 1995 and 2009. Of all those shows I've only rarely caught faint glimpses of what is the standard "IT" at even the worst phish show.
In terms of home and car and office listening (as opposed to live), Phish will trend anywhere between 10% and say 60% of my listening. Call it an average of a quarter, with a bell curve moving out.
Check out my most recent blog post OP, it touches upon "The Importance Of Upcoming Bands" Maybe you'll like it!
I listen to a lot of Kimock, and dabble in Dead spinoffs, Mule, and earlier SCI. Also occasionally revisit the old Dead shows that I listened to obsessively for 15+ years. (If a Dark Star, The Eleven, Scarlet > Fire, or Help > Slip > Franx circulates, then I have heard it at least once.)
Dug into some Allmans, Zeppelin, and old-school Floyd in the past. Tried most of the other popular jambands and didn't like what I heard. Generally dislike Dead cover bands, as well as jammers who rely too much on Dead covers and/or obtuse drug references. Was into Grace Potter & the Nocturnals when they were a loosely jam-oriented rock outfit, i.e. before they got misdirected and commoditized in '09. (They peaked from late summer '07 to spring '08, IMHO.)

I listen to mostly phish but other jam bands I'm into are....
... widespread
gov't mule
sts9
lotus
bisco (starting to get it)
Umphreys
Moe.
the dead of course...garcia band more than the dead lately
dopapod
papadosio
allmans
I find Umphreys hard to dance to, moe. just doesn't do it for me somehow, and bisco is straight mediocrity but still a good time. phish, wsp and the dead are my main shits
