It can be any kind of music at all. I have a large quanitity of "tokens" I need to spend by the end of the month, or else they will expire. So, hit me.
For instance, after seeing @ypehmish Halloween 2013 thread, it reminded me to check if I had Aja. I did have it, but a really crappy, low quality version. So I replaced it with a 24/96kb FLAC.
DISCLAIMER: Don't post any Country, because it's not music to me.
I got a bunch of Deltron/Del the Funky Homosapien but I'll check and see if I got that one.
Thanks thus far!
Thank Gawd...I'm not alone....

Get as much Bill Evans as you can.
Every Boards of Canada album
Bibio (vignetting the compost)
Essential music this is.
DISCLAIMER: Don't post any Country, because it's not music to me.This is incredibly short sighted. I can understand not digging the contemporary shit, but there are some real gems when it comes to 40's/50's/60's country music. You don't deserve my help in this thread. Go on liking shitty music.
hahaha too many FL tokens. I went from like 60 to 10 in 2 weeks. They hooked us up so much. Get as much Bill Evans as you can. Every Boards of Canada album Bibio (vignetting the compost) Essential music this is.Boards of Canada have never made an essential album. This is terrible advice. And Bill Evans is great, but there is so many better jazz recomendations you could make. And I feel like you recomended Bibio just to get something off beat in there. Again, nothing to see here.
@geogaddi said:Like it or not, Music Has the Right to Children was hugely influential. I'd call it an essential album just based on that.hahaha too many FL tokens. To actually answer the OPs question, how about ATLiens and/or Aquemini by Outkast? I haven't seen any hip hop in these suggestions yet.
i never said bill evans was the best jazz musician.
i had FL tokens too, and i spent them on a bunch of bill evans records.
boards of canada and bibio are both amazing, and they have a similar sound.
don't act like you know anything about me.
i don't say anything when you guys recommend your classic rock records that i got bored with when i was 15.
dude how about you f*** off? i never said bill evans was the best jazz musician. i had FL tokens too, and i spent them on a bunch of bill evans records. boards of canada and bibio are both amazing, and they have a similar sound. don't act like you know anything about me. i don't say anything when you guys recommend your classic rock records that i got bored with when i was 15.I'm happy for you, but this thread isn't about albums for YOU to hear. They are for the OP. So the classic rock reccomendations aren't bad at all. Your reccomendations are shit and you know it.
OP asked for recommendations thats all that happened.
I know that classic rock albums aren't bad recommendations, I just wouldn't randomly tell you that I thought your recs sucked because I didn't like them. Read my post again maybe you'll understand this time around.

dude i dont know what inspires people like you to be so goddamn ignorant. OP asked for recommendations thats all that happened. Read my post again maybe you'll understand this time around. Jesus christ people are f***ing stupid.Yes, you are stupid. And missing the point. I'm not telling you your recs suck because I don't like them. Bill Evans is just fine, and I can get down to some BOC. I told you your recs sucked because they suck. They aren't albums anyone NEEDS to hear.

@Bikepgh said:yeah it is pretty wild that they seem to be rather unknown, but were probably the most creative act in Greenwich Village from '63 on. everybody could use a little "psychodelic" folk in their life.that album is so sick man!

You have nothing to do with this.
Let's just agree that Aeroplane over the Sea is a good rec now we're all happy hooray shit.
Now let's shut up and let the users of Phish.net post what recs they think OP will like.
They're albums that I thought the OP would like based on the fact that they are albums that I like. You have nothing to do with this. Johnny Cash - Live At Folsom Prison
The Byrds - Sweetheart of the Rodeo
Webb Pierce - Wonderin Boy
Ray Charles - Modern Sounds in Country and Western
Also any greatest hits stuff from Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Jimmie Rodgers, Buck Owens, Chet Atkins or Roger Miller.
Donovan's Sunshine Superman is amazing too, really mellow and often very trippy.
Beach Boys - Petsounds
U2 - Achtung Baby (I'm not a fan of the band other than this album)
Sly and the Family Stone - Stand or Family Affair
Even though its been said already multiple times I'm saying it again because its that important Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
Beethoven's 3rd symphony.
Damien Marley and Nas- distant relatives
the new album's cool, too.
