AnalogKid Journey sans Steve Perry with Neil Schon at full power. Nuthin' but a serious rock band laying down some 70's hard rock.

Chilly Thanks everyone for all the input, there is a lot of stuff to sort through that is for sure. Finding lots of great stuff though.

Maybe I missed it, but can anybody recommend any Railroad Earth? I've never really listened to them but a few friends of mine out west recently got into them and insist I must check them out. Are live albums better? Give me some dates or studio albums, or both.

I've seen them twice now and can't say they've ever done anything unique. By all means go check 'em out, but in my opinion they're a band to pass on.

Orly?

MPP is not my favorite AC album, but there is no denying it was their biggest. MPP was the album that made people who were too "weirded out" by AC's music actually get interested in the group. That's a must have album in my book.

Also, Sung Tongs> Strawberry Jam & Feels.

I know that some of these have already been mentioned but:
The Band - Rock of Ages
Los Lobos - Kiko
The Meters - Rejuvenation
Paul Simon - Graceland
Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks
Death - For the Whole World To See
Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over the Sea
Shuggie Otis - Inspiration Information

Although I respect your distaste for country, there's a lot of really interesting stuff out there (Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, as two major examples) - you just have to dig around and move past all of the stereotypical modern stuff that gives the genre a bad name.

If you're not into Jazz/Jazz Fusion, skip this post. When I was in high school in the mid-80's, these were required listening for aspiring musicians. Some of these may have been mentioned, but i'll prop them again.

Weather Report - Sweetnighter/Mysterious Traveller
Mahavishnu Orchestra - Birds of Fire
King Crimson - The 80's Quartert! Discipline, Beat, 3 Of A Perfect Pair
Pat Metheny Group - Self Titled
Frank Zappa - Hot Rats
Return To Forever - Romantic Warrior/Light As A Feather
Larry Coryell - Spaces
Tony Williams Lifetime - Emergency/Turn It Over
Keith Jarrett - Fort Yaweh/Treasure Island/Expectations
Any Herbie Hancock on Blue Note or Atlantic/Sextant/Head Hunters/Thrust
Not to single out Miles' great acoustic work, but ALL of his electric period is worth hearing (over and over again!)

Enjoy!
