Interesting Trey interview by Playboy from 2003

westbrook Permalink
westbrook Thanks for posting. There's a lot of great stuff on phisharchive.com but I wish it was a little easier to navigate the site.

mfhgreyboy Agreed, thanks for putting that up. It's definitely interesting to see how he addressed certain topics in '03.

Super_Sash interesting to read Trey's perspective from 2003.

Didn't know Birthday Boys was for Les and Trey and Kid Rock was all up in that business. I'm guessing that KR is on that "no contact" with Trey list.

Slothberries Thats a really interesting interview....particularly the part near the end about Phish and politics. Trey is a smart dude.

TwiceBitten Does anyone know how to contact the person who runs/ran the site? It would be so incredibly easy for him to put the index back on the main page. It seemed to disappear a few years ago and now there's no clear way to navigate the incredible backlog of interviews and articles. I figured out a way to look at the indexes per year once, but I can't seem to make it work anymore.

TwiceBitten oh yeah, I remember how to link to the index pages:

where XXXX is a date from 1989 to 2008. Each page has tons of collected articles about the band and it's members from the year in question.

enjoy

SmokeBehindTheMountain "There used to be five people in Phish, and one of the reasons that the fifth person quit was because of the song You Enjoy Myself. I handed everybody all these sheets of paper at band practice, and three of them were like, "Great!" And one of the guys was like, "I'm not doing this."

And of course, Fishman needing to read books with people eating each other. That makes sense.

fishman4 I think that "band on a boat" tour would be f***ing awesome. They'd definitely be the only band in history to do something like that.

No??

But for one band to just stay on a boat and tour around to different coast cities on the east coast and then if they like it enough, maybe the west coast as well would be something truly amazing.

Oh, you are literally saying one band, one boat. Gotcha, yea that would be sweet but Phish would need to charter a Carnival cruise or something cause this would be a mammoth party.

Yeah, I honestly don't think it's a realistic topic to discuss because of the amount of people that would want to be a part of the event...sigh...

The fear of alienating half of a crowd is why Phish has tended to shy away from politics. Makes sense to me.

Good article.
