The Brooklyn 04 version is quite amazing!

Also, while I don't give Moma the comparative scrutiny I/you/we reserve for "jamming" tunes, I was pretty convinced at 12/28 (and ever since) that that was the best Moma of 3.0. Lots of extra mustard. Anyone care to convince me otherwise?Superball Moma is tops of 3.0
2/26/03 and 6/17/04 are my 2 favorites if we're talking BEK I will have to say 11/28/97
2.26.03
6.17.04
2.18.03
6.24.00
7.31.03
6.17.04
2.18.03
6.24.00
7.31.03
If we are talking Black-Eyed Katy, I go with 11/23/97.This, or 11/28/97.
Moma Dance just needs to be slowed down and it will be that much better again.
2/26/03 > Black-Eyed Katy > all other Moma'sDuuuuude.... likeeeee reeead the commentssssss maaaan.
Black Eyed KatyWhen talking about Black Eyed Katy, I'd have to go with 11/28/97 Worcester, MA
My moma's dance from this past christmas for sure! Too much eggnog and Harry Connick Jr. gets her groovin!
02/26/03 is my favorite Moma and one my favorite 2.0 jams period.
I will never get people who hate on 2.0. The jams flowed so freely in this period.

Just came in to say this.
Moma Dance is, imho, all about working the wah peddle. The amount of quack or 'Q' as wah wah afficianados call it influences how funky Moma Dance can be. Sometimes the opening has this huge Waaaah-wah sound that syncopates with Fish and Mike and gets everyone moving. 3.0 Momas all feel incredibly perfunctory to me, because there isn't a whole lot of 'Q' to them. Rather than Waaaaaah-wah, they go 'weh'. That said, I'd describe the Philly fall 09 version as one of the quackier, and therefore better, ones.

Not the best ever but the trickle down solo trey does at the end of acdc bag> moma from alpine this past summer leads fantastically into momaNot only that, but the way Trey adds some extra noise to the normally silent pauses had me gitty as could be! I absolutely love this version!
My fav 3.0 is probably Fenway. Fish just absolutely brought it!
One that doesn't get talked about nearly enough (that I happened to hear the other day) is 6/24/00. Shit is 15+ minutes long and opens the show. Check it out, then stay for the Tweezer.Just when I think I've learned about all of the extended versions of songs, this comes out. what the hell? I've NEVER heard of that one
no question in my mind. Lakewood 2000. think its 6/24/00
On the flipside, one favorite that hasn't been mentioned yet is 7/19/98 Shoreline. The beginning section is stretched out, but everyone is playing together.
7/8/98 and 7/1/98 are 2 of my favorites
12/28/12 moma was fire

I know it's popular to prefer BEK to Moma Dance. I used to be that way too, but I think it was just a preference for thicker, funkier versions of the song.
If the funk is laid on thick in a Moma Dance (as in Worcester '03 and the OP version), I like it more. I enjoy the lyrics (as in they don't annoy me) and feel that they make it a more fully-developed funk song. As long as it's slow, funky, and jammed out, it's just plain better to me than BEK. Unfortunately lots of Momas are pretty cookie cutter and don't stack up to BEK because of it, but it's not because of the lyrics...
edit: Also, what's with Fish's mic in the OP video?
I'm a 2/26/03 person.Yeah Fish's mic is really quiet.

I personally love the lyrics to Moma Dance. They give the song a chilled groove section in the beginning before the real meat of the song comes along in the jam. I don't see a problem with it at all.
