cupuscakus Our Fishman,
Who art in rhombus,
W00kie be thy name.
These hippies come
With guitar and drum
On tour as it is in Gamehendge.
Give this day our daily toke
And forgive us our WSP stats
As we forgive spreadheads that come to our Phish shows.
And lead us not into the Biscuits
But deliver us from Umphrey's

Gonna be balls deep in it this week. And not like the awesome meatballs we made last night.

More like crappy, contentious, confusing meetings that will eat up 3 full days, plus add prep and follow up. With all the regular work continuing to stack up...

See ya on the other side.

Had an awesome day yesterday considering the weather. Everything was iced over, power was flickering, etc. We managed to keep ours all day.

We hit the store by 8:00 am and got the fixins for chili. Threw that together, did a whirlwind house clean, then drank beers, ate chili, and watched good movies the rest of the day with the kids.

I am going to see them this weekend. They will be getting married and he asked me to be in the wedding psrty which I accepted. Good vibes for everyone for FREE! !!!!

DriedupGoliath Morning, everybody. Quieter weekend, went out for a few drinks with some old college friends on Friday, spent Saturday Netflixing Arrested Development the whole night. Listened to a lot of Phish last night, culminating in listening the 12/29/95 Real Gin, which I hadn't listened to in forever. Just as good as I remember.

Went over to MSP this weekend and spent most of the time at the U of M Aquatic Center watching my girlfriend compete in a post-collegiate swim meet (former NCAA All-American and probably out of my league). I'm pretty proud as she qualified for nationals in two of the 5 events she competed in.

Good morning all (barely)! Really starting to feel the effects of losing a team member here at work. The shit is deeeeeeeeep.

However, we found out this weekend that my daughter was accepted to the school we are in love with for next fall. Which is amazeballs. She's particularly excited. The hard part is explaining to an (almost) 4 year old how "yes, be excited, it's great" equates to "you have to wait until fall. Yes, that's after winter. And yes, it's after spring. And, believe it or not, it's after summer as well."

Glad she was accepted @mfhgreyboy, y'all are gonna love it.

stomach virus might be coming this way. I'm a little unsettled, but Em is saying she's really nausaeous and might actually go home.
There was nothing particularly risky in dinner last night, and everything was well cooked. A late breakfast could have been a culprit, but figure if there was something funky in there it would have manifested in less than 18-24 hrs...

Jayem Hi Everyone!

Hope everyones weekend went as well as mine. Caught a Hockey game and had a great date nigth with my wife also got some new hockey skates (my old pair of 17 years broke ;) ) went to an open hockey session on Saturday at 6 am and was the only one on the ice!! Something amazing about a whole sheet of fresh ice to yourself. If I am solo this Saturday I will be blasting Phish on the PA.

@theemu keep an eye out for a PM from me. I have DC hotel question.
We are headed down there the last weekend of Feb. We were all set to stay with my brother and his GF in her house in MD but they are parting ways and my brother will be back in a studio apartment by the time we get down there! Good move for him but just added $300+ to my weekend road trip.

Happy Birthday @bakestar08

Congrats to Quinn @mfhgreyboy!!

JayDubya Permalink
JayDubya Can I get your collective take on this parenting move I've pulled recently?

My step son will be graduating from high school this spring. He hates school, lacks motivation, doesn't have a plan for the future, and basically only enjoys smoking the reefer.

In order to keep him from becoming a "lifer" in this small Iowa town working in a factory or something, we've been trying to throw career ideas at him or experiences trying to spark some sort of passion in him for something.

Then it dawned on me. The only thing he's passionate about is the ganja, perhaps he should pursue a career in horticulture or greenhouse management and learn how to be a professional grower.

We're on the cusp of legalization, and I would expect in his young adult life he'll see it for sure. It's a billion dollar industry currently and is about to be a legitimate billion dollar industry.

He's contemplating it and seems interested for the first time about something.

So, I just suggested to my son that he pursue a career in growing weed.

Jayem Permalink
Jayem @jaydubya,
Sterotypes aside I think it is good advice. If mass legalization happens which seems likely big pharmicutical companies will undoubtedly get involved. Which may make jobs tougher to get but with a good background/education it could work out very well for him.

For the record I am basing this on nothing but what I imagine will happen.
Score: 1

mfhgreyboy Permalink
mfhgreyboy Not that that's out of the way...

Seems like a really good idea, @jaydubya! Obviously you would emphasize the aspects of the career that are transferable outside of that particular industry: greenhouse, water filtration, etc., etc.

Are their local educational resources?

JayDubya Yes given we're an agricultural state there are some great options for Horticulture and Greenhouse management type degrees. Of course legality is the key here and in the end he'd have a marketable skill no matter what he grows.

KimboSlice @jaydubya I have a cousin who dropped out of high school lacked motivation in a aspects of his life and is now excelling as a 'caregiver' in Michigan.

Posting from he subway. Starting to feel like a functioning member of society while pretending that I don't feel drunk. Rode my bike to the subway, not sure if it was thebest idea. But I made it with out falling, I figured if I made it home on NYE with out hurtin myself I could do it today.
