This show even got a thread on PT to go 11 pages without a negative comment.
Calling it the show of 2013 so far doesn't give it enough credit
Calling it the show of 2013 so far doesn't give it enough creditI suspect it will still be the show of the year come December. I do not think anything I see will top that this year. So good. I hope this becomes a regular project for them like Bustle.
Well yes, I agree. Up there with the best concerts I've seen... period. Def gonna be show of the year, unless they top themselves.
And I saw 2/28/03, 7/29/03, 12/31/10, 8/31/12, etc. etc. etc. and love Phish 3.0. But this beats where Phish is at imo. If this band toured, they'd melt faces for 3 hours straight every night. They did last night on their first try.

They take some of these tunes for very deep explorations (Eyes...wow), and DO NOT skip Space, I promise...the pop out of it into Help is reminiscent of the Light > Sally pop from BGCA this summer.
This show is so good that I would have to give serious thought to flying to wherever this outfit plays again. I'm assuming they will because, well, this group is tits.
I just got into the space and I like what I hear. I have to say that the vocals on Estimated Prophet were spectacular. I really hope that they take this show on the road.
Quite the misleading thread title...
Quite the misleading thread title...I realized that when making the thread, but figured it might get a few more people to open thread and discover this incredible show. Plus it was what they called the band.

I listened to set 1 last night. Really great stuff. Shakedown was incredible.
Starting Set 2 now.
I hope we get more of this.

This is my favorite performance of the dead's material since the phil and friends shows from 4/15/99-4/17/99.
This is the most Phishy sounding Dead related recording I have heard not including those with Phil and Trey. Of course I am by no means a Dead expert.
Sometime I wish Phish sounded more Dead-like and other times I wish Dead sounded more Phishy. (I probably just pissed everyone off...oops).
Anyways this has more peaks than most Dead shows I've heard (again...not an expert so no need to list 50 shows that have peaks better than this...actually go ahead!) ... so if that's your thing then you might enjoy this.

I absolutely LOVE this show. As others have said, this is the "freshest" sounding Dead I've heard since Jerry died. No doubt. Sorry Phil/Bob. This is probably my favorite "jam band" concert I've heard in.... I don't know... a decade? Definitely since Phish 2.0.
I don't know much about Russo's band though, have these guys put out original music? I'd love to hear it.

I'd love to hear it.This was the first time they did this project, but they have all played together in other bands. Russo spends most of his time playing in Furthur and Phil and Friends now. Benevento and Russo used to play together as the Duo and have some original music together. Russo, Dreiwitz, and Metzger have all played in American Babies with Tommy. Dreiwitz and Metzger often play in Marco's band. Tommy is in Brothers Past. Dreiwitz was in Ween. Benevento, Russo, Metzger, and Dreiwitz play Zeppelin as Bustle in your Hedgerow as well.
I didn't see anyone post this video or a Grateful Dead thread lately so I'ma use yours.
"On September 5th, 1973, the Hell’s Angels threw a private party aboard a boat named the SS Bay Belle that sailed around the NY Harbor. For entertainment, the infamous motorcycle club brought Bo Diddley, Elephant’s Memory and Jerry Garcia and Merl Saunders. A clip of Garcia, Saunders, bassist John Kahn and drummer Bill Kreutzmann performing a cover of That’s Alright Mama at this private party, interspersed with footage of a biker wedding and the party, appears in the 1983 documentary Hells Angels Forever. Today, a pristine rip of Garcia and Saunders’ appearance has turned up on YouTube."
