But the show must go on. Thank God for iPhones!
I will attempt to post the links via iPhone. I hope this works.
Synopsys: It's Super Bowl Week!!! I was going to tie this into that. I still intend to, once power us restored. It would take me 9 hours to do this from my phone. Maybe by the time I get home from work all will be settled.
Long story short, the boys were all DIE HARD Niners fans...especially Bobby. We'll let the band represent the NFC.
Baltimore has their work cut out for them. So to make it fair, we need to have them represent just as equally.
San Francisco and Baltimore once met in an epic showdown in May of '77. It's hard to tell who won the battle, but San Fran struck first. Bobby lays into the late arriving crowd right before Sunrise. Calls Baltimore out for showing up late. Sounds like he's genuinely pissed too. It's on!
Maybe he's just upset they missed perhaps the best Sugaree Jerry has ever played. I'm curious to see if history repeats, and Baltimore gets off to a slow start.
I have more to say, but it'll have to wait. This day is still far from being over. But the show must go in. The streak continues!
(Hope this works)

Donna sounds fantastic, as she always did from '76-'78. She's all over this show in fine style.

Great show. The final week of that tour is amazing, especially Keith.

I've been waiting to close this chapter, and the day is here! Now that I don't have to pick away at this thing from my iphone I can finish saying what I had to say. I figured I better jump in and do it, because I'd hate to be responsible for anything that happens in the game tonight! Let me explain...
These Dead shows from May of '77 are revered for many reasons...most of which have been beaten into the ground. They're widely circulated, they're the first true A+ quality soundboards most people have ever got their hands on, the band was locked in and playing as well as ever, on and on and on...
Funny that at the time folks were a bit ticked at all the new songs and the predictability of the set lists! In '77-'78 they caught a lot of flack for playing the "same show" every night. Obviously that isn't entirely true, but look at those setlists in order. Scroll down the list...after 10 shows you swear that first set never changes. Just the order of the songs maybe. And all those new songs! Good God! Remember that Fire On The Mountain, Terrapin, Estimated, these were all new songs. And folks complained that they played them to death.
Imagine that, huh? Reading Deadbase reviews from this era, some folks were thinking the end was near, like they were stuck in a rut. Funny how time heals all wounds. I can't imagine we would complain. Or would we?
Actually I bet many would. Anyways...we've gone over this all before. Many times. But there is something else about May of '77 we've never talked about. Something that could have tremendous implications on tonight's game.
These shows have the ability to predict the outcome of football games! It's TRUE! For this I have proof.
Last year, before the National Championship Game between Alabama and LSU, I put the 5-17-77 Univ of Alabama show up there for our friend @Bamajama (where you been Kim?). I wanted to throw some May of '77 karma her way to give the Crimson Tide an edge. That was all it was supposed to be...an edge.
Well, 'Bama went on to win that game 21-0. The experiment was a success, the karma worked...but maybe it worked too well I'm thinking.
'Bama opened this season by steamrolling my Michigan Wolverines at Texas Stadium. Uh-oh...how long is this karma gonna last? It was only supposed to be for one game!?! As this season unfolded, 'Bama kept steamrolling through the toughest conference in college football (It's true...and I'm a Big 10 guy through and through). Win after win, we found ourselves (well, 'Bama did) in the National Championship game for the second year in a row.
It was just last month...we all know what happened. 'Bama absolutely destroyed Notre Dame 42-14. And if you watched that game it wasn't even that close...could have easily been 56-3.
Now I'm starting to get a bit scared. I'm starting to feel a bit like John Coffey in The Green Mile...with just one touch he made that little mouse live for 60+ years. Ooops...maybe used a little too much mojo on that one!
One show...from May of '77...it was only supposed to be for one game! Now we're 2 seasons down and they're still #1 with no end in sight. I may be meddling with powers I cannot even comprehend.
To all Niners fans, I beg of you...
If you guys get steamrolled tonight, try to find something else to blame it on. Rookie Quarterback choked on the big stage, Moss, Crabtree, and Davis start bitching about who gets the ball more during a 3rd quarter huddle, your coach is one of the biggest A-holes in the league, find something.
If Baltimore goes on a 3 year whirlwind of domination after tonight, I may have to shelve the May '77 shows for good when it comes to these games. I'd hate to be the guiding hand of fate on a game with billions of $$$ on the line. That's a responsibility that is too heavy for me to bear.
...Either that or we should all run to Vegas next time this happens! I wonder....

A few words on tonight's game. This is a hard one for me...I honestly don't have a rooting interest on either side of the ball tonight. As a Lions fan I've always been kind of pissed at how bad San Francisco has dominated us for the past 30 years...but I can say that for every team. So that isn't enough to get me to root for Baltimore.
There was that incident at Ford Field last year between Harbaugh and Schwartz during the post game "handshake", after they handed my Lions their first loss of the season after a 5-0 start. But now with one more season under our belt, I see that our coach very well may be just as big of an A-Hole if not more... So that isn't enough.
Baltimore? They're in the AFC, we play them twice a decade. I can't say I ever give them much thought. Everybody is honking Ray Lewis' going away party, and talking about what a feel good story that would be...I keep thinking about the double murder he was a part of outside of that nightclub. Spare me the bullshit about how he was found not guilty (so was O.J. and Casey Anthony), or how he has "found God" so he's magically turned into a good person now. There are tons of folks in prison who have picked up a Koran or a Bible after the fact...still doesn't forgive the rape or murder (or both) they have committed. If that was you or I our asses would still be in prison. Mark that.
So I don't know...my beloved Grateful Dead are San Francisco folks, but for some reason that never spilled over into the sports realm for me. That's not enough to get me to root for them. Kind of in the same vein as all these fly-by-night Philadelphia Flyers "fans" who wear that disgusting logo on Phish lots just because Trey likes them. I digress...
I don't know...I guess it would be cool to see Bobby and Phil on stage with The Lombardy trophy. They had the honors with the MLB trophy after The Giants won the World Series:

Um...wait a minute...that came at the expense of My Tigers! Dammit!!! I just made up my mind. I'm sick and tired of San Francisco sticking it to us all these years. Screw The Niners for ritually beating The Lions every time we meet (haven't won in San Fran since '75), Screw The Giants for destroying our dream season, Screw Jim Harbaugh for turning his back on The University of Michigan (remember where you cane from pal), screw Randy Moss for torching The Lions for 189 and 2 TDs every time The Vikings played us for a decade, and screw The Niners!
Go Baltimore? I guess...
Actually I couldn't care less...as long as one of my $20 squares hits! (I bought $130 worth of various squares and each one is a bunch of 5s, 8s, 6s, and 2s.) God help me.
Are you ready for some football!!!!!!!!!!!!!
