Trey's NYE run guitar effect!

Dabblesauce Permalink
Dabblesauce Straight milk & honey! that tremelo/rotary/leslie sound he had going the whole run. It added such a nice layer on top of his tone. Perfect example of the effect check the 12/28/12 moma. Buffy Stuffys Dude!

I notice it a lot on 12/28's Free. I thought it was a rather sloppy rendition, but I think the Trey's jelly-like tone contributes to this perception.

I also noticed the heavy, shimmering use of vibe that run - 12.28 especially - and I liked it.

Jimmymac03 I thought it was evident in the Tweezer on 12/28. When I listened to it the next day (I was not there on 12/28) Tweezer was the first track I went to and I was instantly sucked in. I didn't know what the effect was I just knew it was a little different than usual and I liked it.

I am happy that Trey seems to be leaning more towards warmer tones lately. A couple years ago he was going for this really shrill sound that I didn't like so much. Only when he hit really high notes was it bothering me but... I suck at inglish.

Noticed it immediately and thought it was the shit. It gave his sound a lot of character, which is one of my only complaints about a lot of the 3.0 era. Honestly I thought all of 2012 had a much improved Trey in that department. In Worcester this year, I kept marveling at how musical Trey was being with his pedals and different tones.

mattsox94 He wouldn't turn off the CAE Supertrem all of 12.28. It was awesome.

mgh2001 Wait, new amp?

Dabblesauce Permalink
Dabblesauce Not a new amp. It's either his leslie rotary cabinet, or a new tremelo effect. I think he explains how he gets the sound in his rig description video (filmed at jones beach I believe).

I know what you mean, really adds a unique flavor to his tone.

he had it on like 99.5% of the entire 28th but not the rest of the run unless specifically turned on. i thought i was too far gone when it didn't stop being choppy.

ledzepmaster He keeps Black Cat Super Trem set for the helicopter tremolos. The suble tremolo on the new Victoria amp is very nice. Great amp, I could see him relying on that amp if needed. You couldn't tell the difference if it wasn't for the built in tremolo.

@Dabblesauce, he hasn't been using the Leslie at all lately. I wish he would use it again, the roadies and techs deal with it only for it to just sit on stage unused.

@Momadan, weren't you the one who first found out he got the new amp? You should know the Fender amps he likes has the built in tremolo/vibrato. lol

You're talking about the 2 amp setup in STL right? That was the old Fender DR he used in 2.0 and during small shows or sit-ins. Different than this. Or confusing me for someone else

ledzepmaster Nope, I thought I got the word from you who found the Victoria Amps twitter page and relayed the new info about the Reverberato. Maybe it was someone else.

parrott56 I loved this effect. One of the highlights of the run, IMO. Took that gooey, inventive Moma over the top.

Oh, ok I assumed it was an amp cause it was in an amp shell. Was clearly visible instage, on the left side of his rig. Victoria Reverberato......sweet!
