Epiphyllum species and hybrids. Also known as the orchid cactus. It's an atypical member of the cactus family with some hetty type 2 flowers and they love water.

Are they easy to find?

Does it die easily? I just got my first plant back in August its a ZZ (Zanzibar something or other) the girl who gave it to me told me I'd have to be a total retard to kill it, which is a quality that I like in plantlife.

They are pretty easy. A quick google search will lead towards nicely priced well grown plants.

ZZ plants, Zamioculcas zamiifolia, sorry love the name, like it bright and dry. Water sparingly and you'll be good.

Whats you set up?

I love salt tanks. When living in Florida going to school my roommate and I had 5 display tanks and a quarantine in our apartment, a 55 gallon garbage can with water constantly cycling. It was always fun to see maintenance people come in. We tried to make it like you were walking though an aquarium. Our biggest which was sold to a friend of a friend and was eventually built into a wall was 380 gallon. It was just too expensive to run. Currently I have nothing running because in CT the F'n power goes out every three seconds.

mathemagician Permalink
mathemagician Serious gardening which borders on farming. We had so many peppers and squash at the end of the season I sold a bunch to a friend who vends at our local farmers market. I managed to go to 13 shows this summer and still raged a major garden. There's still carrots, mustard greens, and turnips in my garden even though its buried in snow. I can't wait to get the seed trays out and start my cabbages and lettuce in a couple weeks.

I'm also into drinking tasty beers and doing recreational mathematics.
