I find myself listening to 12/29 a lot more than I thought I would.
Wolfmans remains my fav. Jam of the run, it's real refreshing and different than anything they played that week.
Still - i think the Dick's run was better. Was at all 3 of that one as well. Dick's has just had this unparalleled vibe the last two years. Nothing against this holiday run which I'd say was probably the second best run of the year. If I had to rank the holiday runs of 3.0 I'd say:
2010
2012
2009
2011
my pick for "jam of the run" keeps changing but currently its the Disease from 12/30
28th and 30th are among the best of 3.0. That's right, I said it.
I honestly listen to 12/29 the most. It just brings back the feeling in the room that night. I also am fond of most of first set. Been Age was great. IMO Waves and Caspian was a great idea but Trey's solos were uninspired so it didn't go anywhere. Boogie led to the coolest honkeytonk cowbell Suzy. My personal highlight of the show. It is awesome. Great 46 Days to end set and then an amazing encore that never seemed to end.
12/30 was amazing. Start to finish. Perfect. Thank you Phish. I don't play this as much because it is special to me now. 12/29 is an easy listen because it is fun. 12/30 takes you to far out places. I also think this Slave might be among the most beautiful sounds to ever hit my ear.
NYE was a crazy day. A great day. And a damned good show. My words can never fully express the depth of the performance we received that night. The Garden Party turned into an afternoon of golf with a dance party in between. I have seen many live performances in my day. From theater to concerts to the show at the planetarium. This was the best live performance I have witnessed.
@Jimmymac03, Yeah maybe I haven't listened to 12/30 set 2 that much because subconsciously I want the last time I heard the set in full to be live.It is weird man. I have listened to it quite a few times actually but it is always a choice that is made in the "perfect" setting. If I have a long car ride. Home from work with no responsibilities smoke a bowl and veg out to it. 12/29 stays in my car for all the 5 to 10 minute rides around town. 12/30 is sacred.

Well put. I feel the same way about NYE set 3. Not so much musically but it was just too perfect in general I have a hard time listening back on it

And is it just me or is the first set of 12/30 an above average first set for 3.0? It flowed so nicely. Ocelot almost got let out of the cage. You didn't imagine it. Ocelot was a beast! A little extra juice for Runaway Jim, Divided Sky, BOTT, and Ride Captain Ride too. A truly fantastic Phish show from start to finish.
